Slip 2000 or kg products

Does anybody have any experience with these bore cleaning products. I heard good things about both. Just looking for more input. They both make specific copper and carbon cleaning products.

I bought Slip 2000 for cutting carbon.

It cuts carbon about as well as .... water. About the single most useless product on a shelf full of useless products. It won't even clean case necks.

Must be designed for another kind of carbon.

ia Slip 2000 a carbon cleaner? I use S2000 EWL (extreme weapons lube) a synthetic lube on my 1911's , it was designed for semi-auto weapons, seems to work well for that !

Your handloads are too hot and you're getting Carbon 14 (radioactive) fouling. Try backing off a little so you only have to deal with regular old Carbon 12. Mixing isotopes is bad for you! I'm surprised you didn't know that, Al.

I have never tried Slip 2000. I don't need to try anything else any more. I use KG 1 for carbon removal, and I use KG 12 for copper removal. Nothing else I have ever used or tried has worked as well. :D

Hey Big Al,
I bought some KG 1 & 12 a while back and it does seem to work purty well. I don't have a borescope so I can't see if it's cutting all the copper or not. It works instantly on a penny but since it doesn't turn a patch blue it's hard to tell if it's getting all the copper out. What's your experience?

Well I do have a Hawkeye bore scope. At 10X power I can not find any copper what so ever. You are right, it acts fast. Anybody that is limited on time (as in between relays) will be mighty happy how fast it cleans.

I no longer use a bore brush, all that does is add more copper to the bore. This stuff just flat out works. Mo more BS with bore cleaners, nothing works better, nothing works faster.

A several years back, my son picked up a pre-64 Winchester Super Grade in .257 Roberts that I saw on Guns America. He had to travel to Tuscon, Az to pick it up. He called me to tell me the rifle had a vary dark bore, but the exterior looked like it was new. For the price I told him to go ahead. When he flew up and dropped it off, I really thought the bore was just about gone.

I started by soaking it with Butch's twice a day, used Montana Extreme. This went on for two weeks. Then I read about a guy using the KG stuff. BY the time the package got to me about 10 or so days latter, I had all most a month of blue patches and vary little carbon showing. Bore still dark. The day UPS showed with the KG stuff, was the day the bore came in bright. In fifteen minutes the bore was looking mighty good to these old eyes.

I don't make a dime from KG, I'm happy with he products they sell. I give away all the rest of the bore cleaners that I use to buy in quart bottles by the case. I no long mess with mixing up REDS. Life is much better.

No it did not cause more hair growth, just in case you're wondering.:(

Slip 2000 works fine

I have found it the best way to remove carbon from the bolt carrier of an AR-15. It really requires a soak in the Slip 2000 and it really requires a layer of oil, or other sealant, on any parts treated with Slip 2000.

I agree with Big AL

i have never used the slip product ,but i have used the kg and find that its the best ive found so far ,i patch out with KG 1 ,leave it for about 30 min, then patch out with KG12,again for 30min ,the result is the best ive ever seen.

Very good advice Paul, I leave Slip 2000 for about 10 minutes before swabbing it out with dry patches. Then run though a slightly wet patch of breakfree. The whole process uses 4 to 6 patches cleaning my 308 F-Class.

If I could get kg, I'd try it....

Using Breakfree was the first time I found out that my other highly toted bore cleaners were not getting any carbon out of the bore.:D

I was told that Breakfree had silicone, so I quit using Breakfree?

Choketubes and gasguns it prolly works fine on.....

different kinda' carbon. I got it to loosen (wipe out) the carbon ring at the lands....

As I said, it doesn't wipe hard carbon off casenecks even as well as Hoppe's #9
