Shooting Benchrest, Easy!???????

Well, I heard from some people, from various backgrounds - that shooting Bench-Rest is "Easy" - or "It's too easy, I don't like / shoot it".

Now, look at the new record of Mike Stinnet --- 0.0077" 5 shots at 100 yards. (Congratulations, sir!!!!)

For you keyboard shooters & the ones that "think" shooting BR is "Easy" or "Too Easy", or that your rifle shoots "one hole" all day long --- TRY to shoot in the zero, or even "just' in the ones, 5 shots at 100 yds!!! --- TRY to shoot in a registered BR match, or better the States / Nationals, and see what you "can do" --- TRY whatever rifle/scope/load/equipments/windflags bla-bla-blah you can get!

Just as a comparison & eye opener, look at this group (0.097") bellow...

Mr. Stinnet's record is MUCH more smaller than this!!!

-----------

To me, short range BR match (such as the SuperShoot, for instance) is the TOUGHEST match I've ever been involved.

Note: I am not saying that mid / long range matches are not as tough - the point blank BR is just more tougher to me.

Sorry, just ranting....maybe because I'm just too tired & mad now?

seb.

You failed to mention the most difficult piece of the puzzle. You must shoot 25 shots for record,5 targets that are averaged to win. Plus you are shooting against the best shooters in the world!

Another Shooting advantage.....

Is that one can participate in the Nationals or State championships without a winning history. Try that in most other sports. If your an average golfer, can you ever have a chance to shoot golf in a major tournament with Tiger Woods or Phil? Well us shooters can go to the Nationals and shoot along side the national champion by just signing up and going. Want to shoot along side with Tubbs or Boyer? Just go.

Of course this is possible because there is no big prize money involved. If there was hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, it would be much more difficult to participate. Information regards favorite techniques, or loads would be hard to get. "What load are you using", might get the reply, "oh, 37gr of Bullseye really puts that 180gr bullet in the "X" ring".

Yep, to me this is one of the greatest unsung sports there is. Friendly people willing to help each other out and great rifle makers and equipment manufactures making the material for use to participate at a championship level make shooting a life long sport.

The picture of a .097" group can look smaller than a .0077" group, that is, until you know what actual size caliber bullet was used to make the holes.

The group size [usually 5 shots], indicates in whole numbers or decimals, how much the hole Enlargement is in relationship to the bullet diameter being used.

Hence, visually, to the naked eye, a .097" group made with a .224 or .243 bullets can look smaller than a .097" group with a .308 bullet.
