Seb 3" catamaran heel will change the look of future gunstocks.

Dave, many thanks for the compliment.
I'm not quite understand with what you mean "Have you tried to cut the legs of a 4 legged stool and get in to sit level?"
Sorry, languange barrier again here...you mean that with three legs would be easier to sit level?...Or?

Shelley,

The "protuding? part" in the bottom side of the stock (under the front receiver area) is to make the stock sturdier/stronger. It just happened that way when designing/shaping the stock.

The "holes" did not intend to decrease the total weight, but these holes helped me to make the stock to be symmetry. It's just more to make the stock "as skeleton" as possible.
Personally I also do not believe if the holes like this would help the barrel to be cooler etc later...because how much air flow & for how long do we need to decrease the heat??? even if so, how many degree it could decrease the temp as we usuallly shoot as fast as we can when the condition is staying? Not much sense to my humble opinion?

I might forgot to say that my action (short Panda) is a double symmetry port. This is why the area around the receiver is symmetry also....seb.

Your architect training is showing. The bottom of the stock is strengthened in the same way as a suspension bridge (or truss). How absolutely cool!!!!

good stuff SEB

two comments please

1. keep the color white it looks sleek or smooth or fast.

2. please consider this in a good way. It is my opionion that is you are using a 82 ounce barrel (5 pounds 2 ounces) maybe you should use a barrle that is 3 ounces under that weight.

this is not a reflection on Kelblys (good people) just a thought that if you are travelling that far it would be nice to have some room to be underweight. With your painting and pillar bedding or glueing the action in the stock you may be very close to being overweight.

Please why take the chance I like to be a couple of ounces under and then you have room for a different scope, if you forget to take off your scope caps or whatever.

Just a thought not trying to push you to do it. A couple of ounces under does not hurt your scores.

Seb, yes, I think that is what Dave is indicating about the gun finding a true stable position easier with a 3 point contact vs 4 point contacts...................but in the case of a BR rifle that can be settled into a variable medium like a sand bag, than I would think that this would become a non-issue.....................Don

Jeff,

#1. I will see. I have bought a small can of chameleon paint (blue-green-purple) actually.

#2. You're right. I understand recently that it's not so easy to make weight for LV.
Will contact Jim if he still can cut the barrel a bit. My spare barrel is shorter though (20.5").

Thanks you for the inputs & advise....seb.
