I'm not quite understand with what you mean "Have you tried to cut the legs of a 4 legged stool and get in to sit level?"
Sorry, languange barrier again here...you mean that with three legs would be easier to sit level?...Or?

The "protuding? part" in the bottom side of the stock (under the front receiver area) is to make the stock sturdier/stronger. It just happened that way when designing/shaping the stock.
The "holes" did not intend to decrease the total weight, but these holes helped me to make the stock to be symmetry. It's just more to make the stock "as skeleton" as possible.
Personally I also do not believe if the holes like this would help the barrel to be cooler etc later...because how much air flow & for how long do we need to decrease the heat??? even if so, how many degree it could decrease the temp as we usuallly shoot as fast as we can when the condition is staying? Not much sense to my humble opinion?
