Works fine... I use Loctite on 17 caliber sleeves in rim fires.

I don't think you could get the barrel near hot enough to cause a problem.
I would be interesting to see just how hot the bbl does get at the end of 25 record + unlimited sighters . I was surprised how hot it was the first time I shot it. Since the 17's don't need the 'fouling shots' or bbl warm up like the 22LR they might be better suited to more of a centerfire sort of format. 5 records + sighters in 7 mins.
Lot more surface area with a sleeve.
I will order some 609 from MSC in the next few days.

Go to the Loctite product info page and it will give you a temp figure. Just looked it up. It is effective to 300deg.

Below is the link to a Loctite flyer. I don't think 601 is available anymore. 620 seems pretty good but it needs to be heat cured to attain max strength. It only requires 40 degrees Celsius [ just over 100 degrees F ] but my oven won't take a bbled action 
. Would 603 be better than 609 ?
