Rimfire Barrel Torque

I bought a Rim-x action and a pre-fit 22 lr barrel. I have no idea how tight a barrel should be on a rimfire. Before I put it on "snug", I did a google search and found around 35 in. lbs. I thought I'd check the experts here first.

Twist direction?

Threaded barrel are usually set up so the the barrel is tightened
into the receiver by the bullet as it goes though.

i put mine on with snug fit then tap it 2 times hard with rachet handle.;

Tapered seat of perpendicular shoulder?

A lot of commercial actions have tapered seats.

Panda actions have a square shoulder.
Square shoulders are more repeatable.

When I switch from .22-250 AI to 6 mm REM AI on by varmint
rifle using a Panda action the POI moves 1.10 in. right and .85 in. up at 100 yards.
Very repeatably.

My ancient Anschutz .22 uses a tapered pin to attatch the barrrel, not easy to measure the torque but it shoots pretty well ;)

There is nothing quite like exact measurements

that's why torque wrenches were invented and its very nice of folks such as Jerry to tell us what the appropriate torque value to use. If my memory serves, Stiller said he used 35fp for RF and 50fp for CF barrels. If one uses these values, they always know where they are. Same goes for reloading, MEASURE, MEASURE, MESURE. There is likely no adverse difference between 25 and 35 fp I wouldn't think and they aren't likely to ever come loose. I've used 100fp on CF barrels in the past without any adverse consequences but I don't think 100fp is necessary. I'm using 50fp currently.
