Remington Accuracy

Here's a quick story that will maybe help.

My insurance agent called me about a month ago and says I need your help to buy an Elk rifle, what should I get. I say a Model 16 Savage in 300WSM just like the one I have used for the last two years. Well he did and here's what happened.

We took it out of the box cleaned it with Boretech eliminator and then I shortstroked the barrel down and back one time with JB bore paste, cleaned that out and went to the range.

Shot one shot to check the boresighting job, made a small adjustment and then shot the first test load 3 shots with 165 gr Nosler Accubonds and 64gr of H4350, WELL all it did was shoot a .473 group. I tried 65gr with the same results and 66gr opened up to an inch.

We settled on the 65gr load and went home. The recoil on that rifle with that cartridge is VERY manageable and the accuracy is ridicoulously good. For the record I have nothing against the 300Win but for the little difference in the two cartdridges I'll take the 300WSM any day of the week.

The rifle cost him $559.00 off the rack. How do you get a better value than that.

and now that they have an adjustable trigger they are much more of a value.
when did remington not have an adj trigger? the new age trigger is no different except you use an allen wrench to adjust it and it's silver. they do set them a little lighter than they did the old ones (about 4lbs lighter!) but once touched by a competent individual both triggers are perfect and there is no difference
