I was reloading .223 in my AR-15 w/55 gr. SP with 27.0 gr. of Varget @ 2.200" and it has excellent groups at 100 yds. But, I have been to 5 stores in my area and everyone is out of most powders. I was able to get my hands on 2 cans of Reloder 15 and it says it is great for .223. Alliant does not have any data available for the 55 gr, but I have heard of a couple reloaders using the Reloder 15 in theirs. What is the max charge for this bullet weight. Appreciate the help.

RL-15 is for the heavy bullets in 223. I just started using it, and they list 25.0 as a compressed load for a 62g FMJ. I do not think you could get 28 in the case.

I have used AA2015 in the .223 with great results. Having used RL 15 in other chambers I would say that you might want to try a little faster powder.

I've used RL-15 in .223's and although it's a little slow with lighter bullets it would probably work well with 55's and heavier. Works well in my experience.

I use VV N-133 for 52 and 55 gr bullets in 3 different 223's I also use H335 in one with 55 gr bullets
