Re#22 vs 25-06 well what about 6x284

I've got a 6x284 with 10" twist. Too slow for 95gr VLDs I also have some 90 gr Lapua "SCENAR" bullets. What does the scenar mean ? I think I'll try some RE#22 with those. Reports to follow. I bet IMR 7828 is too slow.

Re 22

Should work good, case capacity is about the same as the 06, and from other reloading sources it seems like a good fit

I use R#19 in my 25/06......

with amazing accuracy and velocity with Win primers, and it should also work well with your 6/284.

Increadible performance.

Well this weekend I used 3 different powders. with two different bullets. in my 6x284. 10"twist 26" BBL
90gr Lupua Powders Re#22,H4831SC
87gr Hornady V-max Accurate Magpro
What do these details indicate.
RE#22 56.6 grs produced average MV of 3550 with under 1/2MOA have slight pressure signs
H4831 SC 56.6 grs produced 3515 Average MV with a little over 1/2MOA.
With 87gr V-max using Magpro 58.5 grs produced 3,495 average with 1/2 MOA. But light loads of 54.5 to 55.6 grs. MV from 3275 to 3385 produced under 1/4MOA . But I want my cake and be able to eat it too. I'm trying to get to 3,600 FPS so I can beat a 240 Weatherby............... Now tell me do I have rocks in my head? This rifle with Hart BBL and 700+ rnds through it along with gunsmith say there is severe throat erosion . This rifle is shooting significantly better then when it had under 300 rnds through it. I'm I crazy? How can this be?

H-1000

My 6-284s are in 12 twist but H-1000 has been the powder of choice in all 3 rigs 30in Harts on 2 of them an a 26in on my walking rifle with 87gr V-maxs followed by VV N170 in the 30s and VV N165 in the 26 with Lapua or Win brass and Fed 215 Match

Worker, now try shooting those loads at 200 and/or 300

Before you give up, you should really try some R#19 with standard Win primer.

Case capacity of the 6mm AI and the 6/284 are close. I have a friend that is shooting the 80g Sierra Blitz BT at 3800 fps out of a 26" barrel in a 6 AI, and You can duplicate or better his load with R#19, but he does have a 14 twist which does not spike pressures as fast as the faster twist barrels.

Your Barrel length is not stated in your post.

I've done that before.

I've used RE#19 and H4350 with 80Gr Bergers and Nosler BT in fact I shot my first coyote with a 80 gr Nosler BT with a super stiff load of Re#19 MV was over 3,900 FPS. Amazing I shot this big old coyote broadside a little bit lower then the shoulder. He was 40 yards away I first thought I missed ! Recovering from recoil what! Where is he? No way ! I walk on over there and there he was, he did a 180 and died. I thought I'd have big bullet exit and bunch of blood. But no just a very small entrance and exit. The BC of the 90 gr Lupua and 87gr V-max is much higher. What I don't understand is this rifle is shooting much better now then it was 500 rnds ago. This Saturday I'm going to take it to the limits with Re#22 and Mag Pro and IMR 7828.

"I'm trying to get to 3,600 FPS so I can beat a 240 Weatherby............... Now tell me do I have rocks in my head?"
This is a speed contest?
I'm thinking "yes" on the rocks.

Well I did it? 3600FPS with no pressure signs

So far Magpro powder is the ticket for my 6x284 shooting 87gr V-maxs. 60.5 produced 3,625. I tried IMR 7828 with Magnum primers and SD was too extreme MV too low. I wonder how H1000 would do? Re# 22 was a little on the slow side also.

...Re# 22 was a little on the slow side also.

Curious. I just started working up loads for my 6-284 this weekend and Reloder 25 seemed the most promising with both the 87 V-Max and 105 A-Max and Scenar. I've got a 31" 8-twist, however.

30 "+ inch Barrels

I bet you shooter getting some impressive velocities. No doubt these our bench guns to shoot at PD way out there. Mine isn't that big? 26" hart varmint contour BBL,but its still plenty heavy . I'm right at the edge of max charges. I had shinny ejector marks with 56.5 grs of Re#22 and MV of 3,550 .Plus Mag pro burns a little faster. IMR 7828 gave slight pressure signs but a Wide SD at 57grs with about 3,575 Average MV. I don't understand why can I get more velocity with Mag Pro and no pressure signs with nice low SD .I mean why does my BBL like one charge over the other?
