Quick questions for Mcmillan Edge owners

What front and rear bag gives really good tracking with these stocks. I picked up a use BR rifle with this stock and wanted to order some bags for when it arrives. FWIW I'm using a caldwell br front rest for now, I'll be upgrading to a shade tree coax top soon enough.

The 3" forearm of the EDGE can be used with any standard front bag. The buttsrock might work slightly better with a 2-stitch rear bag but I have used them with both. Of the rear bags, I prefer the rabbit ear Cordura as opposed to to a bunny ear leather. But take your choice, folks use all 4 designs.

Jerry nailed it.

I run teflon tape on my Edge and use cordura Edgewood bags front and rear. My rear bag isthe Gator bag model (offset) with the bunny ears just far enough apart that the stock slides right down between them nice and snug. This is the best combo I've tried of several.

The one thing

I have heard repeatedly is that Edge stocks tend to be sensitive to front bag tension. They don't seem to like a lot of side pressure

I found my EDGE to work best with a Protector cordura front bag. How the side pressure is applied to the bag makes a difference also...simple sliding angle or a pivoting plate. My pivot-style adjustment top pushed the sides of the bag over the top of the stocks side flats when I got to where the bag tension was right. My sliding side pressure tops were better in this area.

In short, I like the EDGE stocks when shooting groups and where side-to-side stock movement is minimal. For Score shooting, my experience is that with the flat sides of the EDGE I had to compromise the bag tension to eliminate the fore end of the stock binding as I went around the target. Stocks with a conventional 'taper' to the sides or with a very short 'flat' or raised rounded edge at the bottom of the fore end have worked better for me for Score shooting.

It's possible that a windage top that pivots rather than moves directly sideways would be a better choice with the EDGE stocks for Score shooting but I've not tinkered with that setup.

You should also look at the Bruno's Edge. It has a more conventional forend shape with the Edge butt but with more drop at comb.

A two stitch codura rabbit ear rear bag works well with both of my Edge stocks.
