Pro Shot Cleaning Rods...

...are hot garbage. Don't waste your money. They only spin on the way in.
Wow! That is the best rod, I have ever had. And still got. 2 different styles. The red Handle uses a roll pin to spin on a groove of the rod. Every year. In the winter. I clean, lube, ultrasonic, change springs, ER! Whatever... all my stuff.
Red handled Pro Shot rod. I squirt Mobil 28 grease in the roll pin hole. Mobil 28 is the best grease. Navy calls it High Temp bearing grease. I used a couple of barrels of Mobil 28 in my 4 yrs on the Gridley. And when I worked for SPD Tech. rebuilding, repairing, or warranty work on BIG CIRCUIT Breakers.
The other Pro Shot Rod has a yellow handle. It's coated. That is the BEST Cleaning rod Ever. got it from Steve Theye. the last one.....
Dewey does not make it. I have bent more than one.
All my smaller cleaning rods are Pro Shot. Just put some greease in the hole....Great stuff.

I just looked for the hole to which you must be referring, and may have found it — it's VERY tiny. Do I need to try to clean the hole? What do you use to squirt grease into it? Also, where can I get Mobil 28 grease?

the clue to the dewey rods is to line up one of the grooves with the stock..they typically fit then. i have a bunch of 30 cal dewey's but use bore tech bore styks now

Mobil 28 and I used to put it in a syringe. Amazon sells it now.

By the way. My brother was an FC on Destroyers and Cruisers. Full school in 1983. Radar, Computer and Gun. Now the Gun is serviced by Gunners Mates. I mentioned in 1983, that their was a new product called Break Free. A CLR. Next I hear from my brother. The Navy is buying it, in barrels. For the 5" gun. Next I hear, he had some Marines on his ship. The Marines loved Break Free....Not sure if my brother, had any influence to buying the stuff. Back then, it was all mail by letter. He was stationed out of Norfolk. I was in San Diego. We were both somewhere in the Western IO.
He later told me. That was the go to for M-16 cleaning...... Never know about this stuff. Info That is.
Supposedly, this stuff limited the firearms from accumulating the "PINK DUST". Hey! Just a story.
Never set foot in the pink dust. And my ship was not there very long.
I did hang from the Mast of CG-21 for 4 days. Trying to fix the Mast lights. LBNSY screwed up the running lights 1982. As far as I know they were never fixed.....JIMMY shut down LBNSY and in 1982 Ronnie Re-OPENED it. Got to see, the New Jersey BB-62 be re-commissioned. That was cool.
Dress Blues and Full Medals. I didn't have any medals. Another story.
