To all those who intend to participate in the 100-200 IBS Score Nationals I ask all of you to Please, Please read the Rule Book before you come. The rules and their validity are the responsabilty of everyone, considering we are a self policing orginization. All of us who are not officers or on comittees are expected to participate as a referee. How can anyone properly make a judgment if they do not know the rules?

Beyond that, each competitor's conduct at each match is governed by the rules. How can anyone proceed at a sport without knowing exactly what the rules they are playing by are?

So please do read the rules a couple of times before you arrive to participate in the Nationals.

Since the only place the current rules are available is on the internet you might want to print of a copy or 2 and or download it to take with you.
Otherwise when you end up at odds with someone at least you know you have a current set.
 
And Pet, or who ever, should make sure they have a NUMBER of copies of the current rules available at the range during the Nationals. Even if it means buying a couple new ink cartridges.

This is an area that tweeks me a bit. I wonder why IBS expects us to print all of this stuff on our own nickel. It's a departure from the way things use to be. When I worked in offices where copiers were readily available and "The Boss" was paying for the ink, no sweat but I had to go out and buy a color cartridge today so that I could print the red for the new rules changes and I wondered why I should be obligated to do this. So NO, I am not going to use my expensive ink on copies for those who don't have a printer. I have a good clean copy for our shoot and that is as far as I am going. The Club does not have either computer or printer nor should it be obligated to provide the books to those who want them.

There will be at least two laptops there with current set of riles on them. Double edged sword when considering printing the rebook. Kind of like things in the USA, lots of cry to keep dues down and expenses down, but by gosh spend a few thousand bucks to make sure we have printed rulebooks. At the rate rules change the darn things are only good for a year.

This doesn't pertain to short range, but I thought the new rule to allow Williamsport shooters at the Nationals got approval after the initial 1 year test. That rule no longer appears in the rule book. Did it not get permanent approval or was it left out?

I'm sorry I had to be so blunt about this but I felt something needed to be done. I recognize the problem, most of the world is now in the Electronic age and a few are not. How to accomodate those who are not is the issue. Personally I prefer using the computer as much as I can for all my communications. I rarely use my phone because I find I often will get off on tangents with a conversation and don't always get done what I wanted to get done witht the call.

Tennyrate, the problem is solved for now. It is a problem though. One of the regular shooters in our group, who is not into the Electronic world said to me last year," I have the Rule Book they sent me when I first started shooting and that's the one I go by". This person has been competing for well over 20 years. How many others like this are there?

Pete as I am sure you are already aware the IBS didnt have a current version available at all until another recent post brought enough light and pressure to bear that the electronic version was at least updated.
In regard to the previous post about dues and cost.
I dont know what dues are for IBS. At this time I still only belong to NBRSA. Dues here are I think $50 a year. We get a magazine and a new up to date rule book with our dues.
And a "nifty" NBRSA sticker.

I have learned over the years no matter what we do someone or group will be displeased.

Yes Vern,

The governance of anything organized always involves problems. It's isn't easy running any construction company and generally, a thankless job. I have had quite a few of them during my short life and most of the thankless ones, brought on by myself either running for them or volunteering to do them. I envy some of the shooting Orgs in which one person owns them and is able to call the tune for everything. Even then, there are most of the same problems the Represantative Orgs have. As long as there are people, there will be problems. The best we can do is deal with the masses. That said, that is what my initial post was about, trying to get the masses to read the rules a couple of times.

i thought pete might have brought it up for two reasons.
one...the CURRENT ONLINE version is correct and available....thanks again for getting that done!
two..to avoid what happened in sacramento......
