Please help a good young man!

I have a young acquaintance that is a junior in high school that shoots 3 position competitively. He has a decent air rifle, but he is really handicapped. He is left handed and is shooting a RH bolt rifle. He is shooting good scores and is looking to go to Perry later this year. His Mom has been looking for a decent LH rifle for him, but they ain't cheap. Mom has not asked for money, just where can she find a decent rifle that is in their budget. A few of us has taken this on our shoulders to raise enough funds to purchase him a "GREAT" rifle. We've had commitments for about $1000, but need another $2500. If you can help, send a check to the address below.

John works in his family's small dairy farm mucking stalls, hauling hay, and other of the myriad dairy chores.
Thanks to all of you, if you knew this young man, you would love him.

You are correct Bill.
A note from his Mom:
John is in charge of the heifers and calves as well as water tanks. He milks sometimes, like this summer we had our 25th wedding anniversary so John milked so we could go away for a few days. Last week he had the flu according to that rapid test, but it was very cold, so fever and all he still had to chop open the tanks & ponds. I felt like a bad mom, but life here is different, the cows depend on him. But I will agree piss/crap tails to the face do suck, & sting.

Looks like we are at about $2000, but still a little shy of our goal. Yes, young John is using his savings also.
Thanks to all of you that have stepped up to the plate.

What match is being held at Perry later this year?

What match is being held at Perry later this year?

Pikedrop, it is 20 times larger in precipitation than a good Super Shoot year.

The National Matches were first held in 1903, moved to Camp Perry, Ohio, in 1907 and continue to take place every summer at Camp Perry. The National Matches have become a huge, national shooting sports festival with well over 6,000 annual participants.

NATIONAL SMALLBORE RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
July 16-28, 2019
Wa-Ke'-De Rifle Range, Bristol, Indiana

Its been there for a few years now...

Don't know all the RF things, but it appears the Indiana matches are at the same time that Camp Perry shoots their RF championships.
I think one is the NRA in Indiana and the CMP is at Camp Perry.
John will shoot the Camp Perry qualifying match the end of March. Hope he gets a lot of trigger time with his new rifle before that.
The last match he qualified 54th Nationwide and 12th in the NE region shooting his RH Ruger American bolt gun. This was out of 900 shooters.
Pretty good!

What an honorable thing to do for this young man and if I wasn't forced onto a limited income due to my health I would gladly have volunteered to pay for the rest and I wish this young man very best.

I visited with Neal and he spent two hours with John and his Mom. They decided on a Feinwerkebau 2700. I haven't heard today's tally, but yesterday was $2500. The young man and his Mom and Dad will use their savings to finish paying for it. It will work much better than his squirrel rifle-Ruger American.
Thanks to all of you for your help and thoughts.

Butch I purchased a 2700 light for my Granddaughter quite a few years back from Neal. She fell ill while trying to work her way towards a shooting scholarship at TCU. Shooting was and is no longer doable for her and if she still had it she, we would have gladly helped this young man.

Don't let up yet...they ain't giving them 22 bullets away like they used to.

That said, I remember buying a box (50) of "shorts" for 55 cents. Bought a box every Friday when I was a young'un...a box of bullets, a 16oz Double Cola, and a great big "cake" with that dollar Granny gave me as a sort of payday. Can't remember exactly, but I'd have a couple or three pennies left and I'd save 'em until I had enough to buy "longs". High cotton was the day I had enough to buy "Long Rifles". I noticed just recently that the Jay birds are making a comeback around here...thought me and my buddy shot them to extinction some 60 years ago.

What a Blessing and a lesson in life for this young Man and one he will never forget. When the youngster's are constantly being told the times are at their worst good people step up to prove that they still do exist.
