Is it an optical illusion, or does the new stock seem to have a more severe angle on the lower butt than the current Robertson BRX.
If it does, that will please the shooters who push the Rifle forward to get on the sighter, (bag squeezers), but not so much those who shoot free recoil, and use some feature of the front rest to get on the sighter and back.
The trend in recent times has been to keep the angle at what ever angle minimum will satisfy the rules.
I am not being criticle, just an observation........jackie

new robertson stock fresh from the mold

That looks pretty good but a few more angles on photos would be nice.
I don't think i needs paint. it looks like it's painted and then gel coated.
The design should ride the bags very well with that thick bottom section.

What does the weight average on this stock?? When will this stock be available in the colonies??

Jackie,

By printing pictures (with the stock about 10" long) that were taken at a side view, I have been able to draw lines on the prints, and using my dial caliper, ruler, and scientific calculator, calculate (using basic trig.) the toe angles of several stocks (relative to the top lines of their forends). I put this stock at about 8.5 degrees, the speedy design that he makes at about 6.5, and the current Kelbly version of Lee Six's venerable SPG at about 9 degrees. I would also guess that the forend of this one is more parallel to the top of the stock than many I have seen. My Six built Millennium slopes up at about 2.5 in front. It seems to me that the later versions are longer and flatter in the forend. If anyone sees this differently, please correct me.

some of the answers

1. the stock angle is about 4 mm higher at the front than the minimum taper. this is measured from just behind the trigger guard. You will notice the absence of a pistol type grip on the bottom. that makes the angle look decidedly more.

also in recent discussion with an action and stock maker about this very thing he was of the opinion that using a 6 1/2 action and bedded lower in the stock would make SOME of the stocks used illegal under the rules if enforced. (just measure soem of the short actions that are bedded lower and see for yourself, we have)

2. weight will be given later this week, just got the pics with no other information. Ian is very busy with over 230 designs to mkae and orders to fill. it will be available shortly.

Hopefully more information on the weekend.

same quality as before, just a different look.

thanks for posting the pics, my effort would have been less than adequate.

Nice looking stock Jeff! They sure get a nice finish for right out of the mold. Hope that the tang of the Bat actions won't stick up out of the stock like they do with the Edge?
