Panda "Round"

Redrock

Steve Grosvenor
Just looking through the classifieds and saw a Stolle Panda "Round" action, not familiar with that is it a sleeved action with the scope rail across the top, and square on the bottom like the other panda's? Any help would be appreciated.;)

Life and actions go round and round

Dear RedRock, I have heard tales of a few early Stolle Panda actions that were produced in the round rather then the now familiar multi flat configuration. Jim or George Kelbly would be a person to contact to verify this. If you get Jim please tell him we in the gulf coast region wish him congratulations for being released from his Dept. of Correction ankle bracelet. Tim

Kelblys made/make a few round Pandas, mainly for rail guns and I'd guess most were made before their current round action, the Grizzly. The ones I've seen looked just like they were put on an arbor then turned, They have the same Stolle/Panda logo on the side. There is even at least one Left Bolt, Right Port round Panda I know of.

Why not call............

Mr. Tucker, that way it would be from the horse's mouth, no speculation; I think thats why the # was posted in the ad??

A few shooters made their own, the same way George did, on an arbor in a lathe.

more than one answer is always better, not trying to find out that it is round Mr Tucker has allready stated that it was round, just trying to find out the origin of the round, Just interested if others have come across this as I have not, and from the replys it would seem that it is quite old by the statements of "some early Pandas" I will contact Kelbys to learn more thank you.

I, too, have heard of a few round Pandas.......

and know of one stainless steel Panda. The only one Ralph Stolle made.

Round Kelbly actions

At the last Midland nationals I traded Larry Baggett a Short, round POLAR action for a late model Panda.

The action came to me round and left the same way

I have a short round Polar action in my shop now. It has been shortened back to the insert. Has a trigger hanger and coned bolt. Makes a nice heavy.

Round Panda

I have a round Panda. I wanted it to fit in a "skinny" stock and use a lower scope mount than the rail. I simply asked Kelbly's to make it for me and they did. They are very accommodating.

I've got a left bolt/right port round Panda and it's idebtical internally to my conventional Panda. Mine came off a rail gun. I now have it in a light Varmint and can tell no difference as far as accuracy or function to my conventional Panda.
