Opinions on Springers

I have asked before, a few months ago, what is a good choice in a Springer to use in Benchrest. I think I have reduced it down to 4 makes as follows; HW-97, RWS D 54, FWB 300S and TK 200. Are there others I might want to consider?

Thanks,

Pete

The Feinwerkbau 300S is very hard to beat Pete...Very and I mean very accurate & extremely easy to rebuild and maintain...

If you can deal with the low power, maybe out to 25 yd max, the 300s is by far your best bet.

Pete:

This is another FWB 300S ...This seller (Joe) has been around that forum for quite some time (at least 2 years) and seems to be reliable...He buys - rebuilds and sells 300's.

My only concern would be that his re-doing of this gun seems not done with FWB original parts..No big issue, you can buy the original FWB piston & breach seals and ring as well as the 2 springs with the washer/divider in Canada for about $90.00 shipped to the US. Not to say that Maccari and non original seals are not good nor reliable, but I rather have these guns in their original configuration as it has been my experience that they seem to shoot their best
the way they came out of the factory.

I have 2 of these guns that I bought brand new back in the early 80's and I have re-done them and other similar guns several times...So if you have any question please let me know, I believe
I can assist you with mostly anything that you may need.

This same guy (Joe W Rhea) got another FWB 300 and he is in the process of rebuilding it for selling it, it looks like a good gun and this may be a good time to get on hold of him.

See the gun he is rebuilding here: http://www.airgunnation.com/topic/shes-a-real-daisy/

You can get on hold of him at: 903-279-1326 or at: 44vanilla@gmail.com

Pete Berube from Hamilton, MT (won a National Championship 2-3 years ago with his 300S) and I advised Joe when he first started rebuilding these guns, so he knows us well (by phone); you can tell him that "AZ" (from Montana)
asked you to talk to him...and if you don't like or don't get this gun, he can get you another one.

There is another FWB 300 S for sale here: http://www.airguns.net/classifieds/...6&adSort=forsale&StartingAd=0&NumberOfPages=7

and another one here: http://www.airguns.net/classifieds/show_ad.php?adNum=137461&adSort=&StartingAd=150&NumberOfPages=7

JWR has a habit of finishing his stocks by dousing them with lighter fluid and setting them on fire. His rebuilds so far seem to be a drawn out learning experience.
JimE is a reliable re-seller. He sources his guns in Europe.
Pilkguns released a large group of extra well used FWBs a couple of years ago that many amateurs "rebuilt" with varying success. Be careful.

I'm finally ready

I am in a position now to buy a good FWB 300S if thee are any to be had at a reasonable price.

Thanks,

Pete

Congrats Pete. Glad to hear it, and can't wait to see it.

The seller claims she's a shooter

We'll see. If wishes and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a wonderful Christmas, eh? Wonder if Dick sold his?
