Nightforce Japan?

At least they don't say "made in America, tested in Japan".

It is my understanding there are two primary lens grinders in the world. One in Austria/Germany and the other in Japan.
Both make high and low end lens. They are cut and coated to spec of customer who ordered them.
Another interesting bit of trivia one of the largest "American" scope makers is having therre lower end scopes made in China. And One of the former lower end scope maker is making the binoculars for Leupold and they are made in Japan.

Define primary grinder

I have worked in the optical engineering industry for 26 years and I would define Rodenstock, Schneider, Zeiss both east and west, Fujinon, Nikkor and Cookie to fit the primary grinders category. None of them grind for one another or design optical systems for one another. Thats seven and counting.

I also heard that the engineers that worked at Nightforce (Japan) said that they could make them sharper, better, stronger (you get the idea) and they kept getting shut down so they started their own company (Deon Optical) and made the March scopes, which are better glass, more zoom range and ....

a lot of people who own MARCH scopes seem to think the glass is about equal to the Competition Leupold scopes...opinion varies some but the consensus is they are good but not head and shoulders better.

The ONE THING that most agree on is that DEON has solved the reliability problems associated with 1) adjusting the scope for windage and elevation and 2) and most importantly holding point of impact shot to shot.

#2 is just SO SO SO important in benchrest competition, group or score. You pay for what you get most times and this is one time where the cost seems to provide a long sought after benefit. --Greg

The Burris .22 rimfire scope I have is made by the CHICOM's. It came as a package deal with another scope. I won't use it. I try not to support our political, military and ideological enemies. If you don't think they are, think again! --Greg
