This one

Sort of flies in the face of conventional thinking for an Air Rifle. I've been tuning mine with a one OZ tuner @ mid-barrel. The most recent thinking I have bought into is around 5 oz for a .90" barrel on a Rimfire. I think 8 OZ is too heavy.

Wow that is a heavy beast.
The Woolumn tuners I use on my LV short range BR rifles is only 4oz.

But I have been waiting for an airgun tuner. If you know how to use them they do work.

Another one I have been waiting for is a mid barrel tuner like what James Pappas made for the rimfire guys.

on my Air Rifle is a simple SS sleeve with a threaded hole in it's side for a nylon screw to secure it to the barrel. I had to mill one side so that it allows the barrel to float.( Not interfere with the air tank) It slides up and down the barrel and I just kept moving it until I found a single pellet hole group of 3 shots. As I recall, it is positioned about half way up the barrel from the action face. I have tried moving it but keep returning to the same spot. As I recall, the sleeve weighs 1 oz.

What does this have to say for "Conventional Wisdom" of tuners? I don't know, but it works. Perhaps the same would work on other type rifles but usually the stocks would interfere. If someone had a fixture to mount their action in they could try a sleeve, such as I use on a RF or even a CF barrel. I'm gettin too old to be foolin with things like this. My first BR RF rifle came with a Fudd tuner that has a hole through it slightly larger that the barrel O.D.. I tried moving it behind the muzzle and kept it there so that I didn't have to clean the I.D. of it. It continued to tune the rifle when positioned behind the muzzle.

I tried some rudimentary "air Strippers" but found they only acted like tuner weight so discarded the use of them and settled on the sliding weight.

Air stripping best done before pellet exits muzzle ( yep holes in the barrel)- Match pistols have had that for several years already - there is very little pressure left behind the pellet when it exits the barrel to disturb it's trajectory also act as an anti flip ( muzzle rise) by being vented vertical or slightly off vertical on both sides. My P 40 FWB has this and it does work vs my other 2 previous match units. a unit on the end of the barrel is less effective - although does reduce the muzzle flip due to redirecting escaping air from behind pellet but is it has to be bored over size from the barrel ID the pressurized air is still acting on the pellet as it exits the muzzle + for a bit of distance afterwards until total dissipation of said air charge. I have an external one on a pardini co2 unit. In the right atmospheric conditions you can observe what is going on with the co2 unit.
