I have a few questions re pellets, and FPE for setting up for score shooting.

So like I said I am new. I do not have a expensive PCP by any means so I am restricted somewhat. This is more of a learning process.

What I have heard, PCP are more efficient shooting heavier versus lighter pellets.

What I am wondering is for the BR competitor what or how are the rifles being tuned?

I have heard staying at 12 FPE for a given pellet weight. Or is it more like playing with velocity to make a pellet shoot as forgiving as it can?

I believe a .177 10.3 gr JSB to achieve the 12 FPE is around 740 fps.

Or is there a window that the .177 shoot or appear to shot best at?

Hope this makes sense?

the majority of benchrest airgun shooting is for 12FPE and 20FPE
and most of the shooters shoot
8.4 grain at approx 800 FPS for 12FPE
and 10.5 grain at approx 880 FPS
or 13.4 grain at 800 FPS for 20FPE
how you tune to get there depends on your gun

Are the velocities you mention

For the given FPE on the high side?

According to the online calculator approx 730fps would give around 12.24 FPE with a 10.34gr pellet.
 
So, I have read the rules

and understand the LV and HV classes and the FPE and FPS restrictions.

Outside of that, are air rifles similar to that of say the 6PPC where there is kind of a velocity window where pellets may shoot best at accuracy wise?

or is it just tuning till you get the best groupings/wind bucking and not exceeding what the rules stipulate for the given class?

I know my Diana is not a competition rifle but since I shoot the Short range BR game I still want to tune this thing within the rules. For a 270.00 PCP I am pretty impressed with how it performs at this moment at 10 meters.

Target marked number 1 was a different pellet. The rest are JSB 10.34gr

i was hoping someone else would come up with your answers for you
i do not know what 6ppc is
and i don't understand your target
it looks like you are shooting a 2 shot group at 10 meters ?
not something that is done in Airgun Benchrest competition
guns are tested at national matches to make sure they do not exceed the limits
so tune the gun for what it is best at below the limit
