New action on the block! Check it out!!

A couple of months back Kelby's announced a new action and everyone jumped all over them, for advertising and not paying for an ad on the classifieds! Why is this any different or acceptable as compared to the Kelby's discussion of their new action. If this gentleman wants to sell actions let him buy the appropriate advertising in an appropriate area of this site! Another example of dual Standards? What say you Moderators?

I don't know about other moderators....

....I look at it as kind of a "public service announcement" unless it starts getting overdone.

Jim

The builder,

did NOT post anything as opposed to the "other" person you alluded to?

The manufacturer didn't advertise anything.

And he never will have to since there is a picture of his advertisment brochure in this post. Price, Dimensions, etc. Its great to have a conversation about a new product but this is advertising 101! From now on anyone making a product can produce a BR product, make a brochure and send it to one of his buddy's to take a picture of it and put it up on BR central, then the maker benefits from sales of that post! Wow what a marketing concept!

Give it a rest Gary, go shovel some snow, most of us that have been around here for a while like to hear about new stuff. Wilbur and the Supers do a pretty good job of keeping things in line.;)

VV N133 is the greatest powder in the World!!

Oooppps, I guess I'm advertising.

Andre 3K,

How great a powder is it if you only buy 1 pound at a time ?? :D

Holy heck folks! I was just excitted for my friend! Just wanted to do something nice for someone, thats all i meant to do. The advertising for free BS never crossed my mind.
I did get to fondle the actions today and i was truly impressed with what tom has done. I even picked mine out!! Sorry if i have offended anyone here! This was not my intent!! Lee

Skeet, don't worry about it. If you get right down to it, any post made on here where we are talking about some piece of equipment that we use, it can be viewed as advertising. The nice write up that Jackie did on the 8208XBR complete with his test targets could be interpreted as free advertising. Unless Jackie was compensated for that. The posts griping about advertising are nothing but an attempt to hijack the thread IMO.

Skeet...don't worry about it...Hell! If I were to take someones opinon...it would be your's! Since you haven't shot in a match of any kind at all!!! ;)

no wonder ???

Some of Catty sniping here reinforces why some of us are reluctant to post. For Christs sake give the guy a break.

Skeet knows that I'm just ribbing him. I haven't shot in any BR matches yet either...:)

Pat

We try to keep the board on the up and up, all in all, I think the Forums are doing pretty good at the moment.

As a Moderator, I do share Wilburs wishes that more shooters of your caliber would join in. I do understand that it is difficult to carry on conversations with shooters who are ignorant of what it is we do. But the hope is, by garnering info from real shooters and craftsmen, these shooters will gain the much needed knowledge to help them become accomplished competitors...........jackie.

I have to say.............

I really enjoy coming here, because I learn a great deal. I enjoy seeing the new things that come available. Skeet, you might tell Tom that the guys on BRC are just DYIN' to have him advertise, with SPECIAL rates..........;)

Tom will advertise. He is just launching these new actions so i thought i would help a good man out. I will definitely tell tom about the rewards of advertising on this great site. I was just happy for him as he has been working on these actions for a long time making sure he had every detail correct. His machine shop is amazing with lots and lots of machines. Tom is old school in his ways but there were plenty of new state of the art machinery in that shop. I spent the better part of two hours looking around and talking with fine people. To be quite honest it was one of my better days for this seemingly long winter. I most certainly didnt mean to step and bounds!!! This is a great place and i really enjoy most of the personalities here. I am one thats is always full of questions simply because i have a strong passion for this sport. Tom is a great man, and i hope he is successful with this endeavor! Thanks Lee

Lee did you see that Southbend lathe Tommy uses for chambering barrels?? I thought it was new when I saw it a few years ago.....Ian

I had a chance to see it all. Tom walked me around explaining each and almost every machine. I think i missed my calling in life. I really really wish i had the ability to run those wonderful machines. My father is a tool maker for GE so i am not exactly a stranger to them, but non the less that machine shop was very impressive. Heck he even has the machines to make barrels. Tom said that was also something he wanted to do. I hope he does!! Lee
