Hi shooters i would like to ask does anyone have any load data for the 300 ackley based on the 375 h&H case necked to 30 and ackley shouldered. I have recently had one built on a BAT 10" and i am having trouble getting it to shoot. I have tried many different bullets such as 190 sierra, 200 hybrid berger, 185 lapua, 215 berger and nothing seems to be working. The powder i am using is AR2217 which is an Aussie powder. last load was 81.5 grains in front of federal magnum primers.

Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.

I am using this rifle for the 500m flyshooting competition down under it's alot of fun score and group if anyone would like more info on this type of shooting then you can have a look at my site www.500mflyshooter.com.au looking forward to hearing from other shooters.

RL-25 equivilent

I shoot 308 Baer which is very close to the Ackley. I also use 375 H&H brass, but have also used 340 Weatherby(Norma) brass as well. I think most of the U.S. shooters that respond will tell you they use RL-25, with std match primers. I have a heavy gun 10 twist that I have shot the 240 Sierra's in, but have been using the 230 Berger for the last year or so. My RL-25 is an older lot that I have had since 2006.

I have also shot a 12 twist light gun. This one I have Norma 340 brass, and use RL-25 and 200 Sierra with std. primers as well. I have an 11 twist as well that I shoot the 210 Berger in. My load is the same for both of these guns.

Do a search if you do not have access to RL-25 for an equivalent, try std match primers(I use Fed.) I am not familiar with AA2217. Match your bullet to your barrel twist. If you pm me I'll give you my load data. Maybe someone on this forum will speak up that is familiar with your powder.

AR2217 is H1000

AR2217 is H1000. Exactly the same. AR2225 is Retumbo.

I've found RL-25 hard to obtain and expensive. You should be able to work out a good load using H1000 and Retumbo loading data that will be safer to use in all temperatures. RL-25 can be sensitive in the heat.

Ben.

I always used 4831-SC. Around 72 to 73 grains with Sierra 240 and Krieger 10 twist.

Suggested load ????

Any suggestions for the AR2217 or AR2225 in the comparison of the above threads. Bullet i want to use is the 200grn Berger hybrid or the 215 grn hybrid. case is RWS and federal primers.
barrel is a maddco 1:10 twist

Hi Les

There's some variation in chambers for the 300 Ackley. I suggest you try using published 300 Weatherby loads as a starting point because the capacity is only marginally smaller.

H4831SC is AR2213SC, but I'd recommend the slower AR2217 and AR2225 powders to getter a higher load density in what is quite a high capacity case. Ignition will be more uniform.
