Mustafa has a new rail… watch out!

We decided to make our monthly shoot at Kenmore range a warm up for the Sniper King shoot which is coming up at Tacoma next month. For those that don’t know about the Sniper King, it is the oldest (1944) continuously awarded trophy in the U.S., won last year by Lou Murdica. It’s a pretty big deal for us around here. Anyway, our shoot at Kenmore is just an unregistered club shoot, but there was some pretty fancy shooting going on there that I think deserves mention…

Tom Dickson (of Bat actions) having recently built twin rail guns for Mustafa Bilal and himself, seems to have done a pretty good job! We were happy to have Tom come over from Idaho to shoot with us, and at the same time deliver Mustafa his new rail. Mustafa won handily posting a .2400 aggregate score, and on the last target of the day proceeded to shoot a .460 (10 shot) group at 300 yards! As I said, this was not a registered shoot, but just to give you an idea of where that ranks… the current NBRSA unlimited 300 yd 10 shot group record is .536, and the (5) 10 shot group agg is .2660! He used a Dickson rail, Bat 3 lug action, Bartlien barrel, Bishop bullets and Graham wind flags. (just had to slip that in ) Looks like the Sniper King shooters will have their hands full this year!

I bought toms old rail and it is very nice. Saw the new rails almost finished at bat machine a while ago. Nice to see they are done, but not nice to see how well they are going to shoot.

maybe Mustafa will win the sniper King a second time soon.

I plan on taking a few shots and posting them tomorrow. These RGs are a different and very effective design. Tom Dickson is a true master. From what I hear, he built these two rails without drawings and without wasting any materials in the process. He got them right, the first time. Both rails are performing exceptionally well.

Since I was your bench buddy last year, I know you'll be coming up with 5 hot barrels for each one of mine. This has been your year…so far. We have a lot of local shooters who just can't allow the Sniper King trophy to travel out of state this year, specially south to CA!

As usual, we are all going to have fun up here in Tacoma.

specs & features

Specs – 6ppc, Tom Dickson’s .262 neck reamer, BAT 3-lug “top loader”, Delrin sleeved Bartlein barrel, Jewel trigger, Leupold Comp 45x, BAT scope rings.

Features – everything made very low to the bench and a very low center of gravity top. Centrally located controls at the rear and left. 1 pin in back and 2 in front rather than the usual 2 in back 1 in front. Combined with a small footprint, this allows the rail to be positioned more in front of the shooter. Totally adjustable, independent low power second scope for flag reading, attached to the base. Cavity in the base for extra weight which hasn't been necessary yet.

Slick look and operation. Tom put together a very fine machine indeed!

Well, of course they are right that you can never have enough rails… but I believe I heard Tom say that he has built enough of them! I think there is a lot of work in those things!
