Molded Color
I have a couple of Robertson Composites BRX stocks. The paint
is protected by a thick gel coat which makes them resistant
to chipping.
They also have carbon fiber in strategic locations. Which
makes them durable and lite.
Cut outs are dealt with by removing material with a Dremel
and then mixing colored pigment (supplied by Robertson)
with five min epoxy and then applied to affected areas.
This application matches the original stock color.
Marbled stocks have muti colored matierials injected into a
mold so the colors are consistant thru out the stock.

The answer to your question is "yes it does", at least on mine it does. I have one that I am working on now and trying to figure which way to go. This is my first and I am going to try some rosin with color added to touch up the spots. On mine the gel coat and fiber is about 1/8". I hope someone will chime in and give some good answers. My stock is a Robertson, others may be different.

If it's a McMillan, the colors go all the way through the shell. They cut the bolt handle notch through the shell anyway so you have to repaint that if you cut on it.
