What is the difference in putting a barrel on a M70 than a 700 Rem. ?

There are several different styles of model 70's, some with coned bolts & some with flat bolts. Some will require an extractor cut in the barrel. Which do you have?

Ron

It was the one with controlled round feed I had in mind . The one with a coned bolt face and the one with the extractor slot how do you cut them? Thanks Max

Bought a little jeweller's saw (piercing saw) years ago that came with steel cutting blades. They were great for cutting extractor slots & sight dovetails. When the blades were all used up, I never could find any replacements.

It's probably also worth mentioning that many if not all of the WSM versions of the new action have a different thread diameter and pitch than the basic 1" X 16 TPI. I don't remember for sure what, maybe 1 1/16" X 32 or something similar.

Hey that's a pert smart way to increase the tenon strength of an assembly! They just picked up essentially another 50 thou of hoop strength for nuttin....

The newest Model 70's are 1.062x28tpi this change took place when the short mags came out and is still in use on the new F/N manufactured Model 70. (At least all I have tore down are 1.062x28tpi.)
