Lt-31

This topic has been discussed in the past but what about a few years down the line now that the LT powders have been out a while. Is anyone using this combo in competition or is it more of a passed fad. Is it worth the extra hassle of mixing powders? Has anyone with reserves of real T powder compared the two? Even if it is close to T powder is it even worth it with the prevalence of tuners? My gut and experience tells me practice is going to make more of a difference in my group sizes than any small advantages that might be had with LT-31, but I just want to see what ya’ll have to say about it. Side note what do ya’ll think about the ezell tuner? It’s what rick had on the cobra before I bought it and I think I’m gonna put one right back on it. I hear it’s a top notch tuner and it worked great when I shot it at gallatin. I have never used tuner so this’ll be my first one.

Mikes tuners are the easiest to tune and work the best for me of all I have tried. ----Bill

+2 on Ezell tuners!
I can't comment on other brands, but Mike's tuners are on both of my rifles that just won the 3 & 4 Gun Calif State.
They were also on Steve Epstein's rifles that finished 3rd in both Aggs.
I also installed them on our 30BR VFS rifles and they both shoot dots!
I wouldnt shoot a SR benchrest rifle without one installed, they work that well:)
Or maybe its just those Epstein Magic Bullets ;)

I haven't mixed up any LT-31 so I can't speak to it. But I have used a fair amount of LT-30 and LT-32 in the PPC. They've shot so well I've never had a reason to try LT-31. I bet you'll find one that prints really tight in your barrel (with tuning of course).

I started using LT31 in July of 17 on the reccomendation of Durward Wooford. Since then I've probably used 45lbs of it, give or take a bit. Out here in the west where humidity is below 20% a lot it works very well, especially if you have one of Mikes tuners on your rifle. I've tried to shoot it at St Louis in that humidity and it hasn't worked, I shoot VV133 over there. Bart and some others have shot LT30 in high humidity and done well with it. I'm told by some other guys that LT30 is touchy, to shoot well it needs to be loaded to very high pressures and you have to watch it close, it's easy to get it too hot and ruin cases.

I’ve chronographed T-322 and LT-32 and the same powder measure setting, threw the same weight of powder with both powder measure settings and velocity was identical. The T powder I had was labeled as T-322 which means it was some of the earliest packaging. It was labeled later as T32. I had lot 3 of LT32. It chronographed 3300 FPS with whatever load I was testing. Probably 28.2 grains but don’t remember for sure.
