Larry Feusse (former IBS National Score Champion) lapped the field at the Holton Gun & Bow Club on Saturday, May 28, 2016 with his winning 497-18X winning the Harry Hoppe Memorial Score Tournament. Larry shot his trusty 30PPC with his 123 grain molycoated bullets and 36.0 grains of H4198. As many of you know, Holton can be very unforgiving and can be a real test of wind reading skills. Today was no exception! The Lake Michigan winds were gusting to 20MPH and switching from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock very rapidly. And I do mean rapidly! Dudley Pierce started out the day by dropping a point on the first 100 yard target but came back with a vengeance to finish in second place with a great score of 488-21X. The Sandbagger Class was won by Pat Colwell with his fine 460-14X. Vic Halverson could only shoot the 100 yard stage of the tournament. Vic’s 250-17X won the 100 yard stage shooting his 6PPC.

There was one other curve that Mother Nature threw at us today – POLLEN! And a lot of it too! Everyone was walking around squinting and rubbing their eyes due to so much pollen that was flying in the air. Bill Nienow was the Range Officer and official scorer. We thank Bill and the target crew for making this match a success.

Just the messenger boy…
Matt

Larry shoots a 30 Gorilla, not a 30PPC.

Grats Larry. We missed you at the Super Shoot.

Note; Larry is one of the few centerfire benchrest shooters shooting experimentals.

Unfortunately our branch of the shooting sports has become "monkey-see. monkey-do"!!

Don't think so. He sold me his seater die and full length sizer. 30 Gorilla.
Who knows with Larry......
At the last WWCCA Group Tournament, Larry was shooting a 30BR and 6PPC with a 60 gn bullet. Smallest open point I have ever seen. Moly coated...
He was doing good....Always something new with Larry.
I have gotten in trouble with the other shooters. I start talking to Larry or Sharon and get caught....or whatever...and the scoring goes a little slower.... Sharon likes to bake....:).

Congratulations Larry, and Dudley. It must have been some really nasty conditions to get 9 points difference in the top two in a 100-200 match.
But then having shot Holton a couple of times I know it can be a really tough range.

Larry's flags (all 7 of them) kept getting knocked down from the wind. While he was over at his trailer reloading, I was resetting his flags. Gotta do it for him you know. He was studying his flags so intently - I watched him - his fingers adjusting his front rest so precisely. His head never moving out of the scope - still studying...and then BANG! Another fine 10! Those 123 grainers of his were the ticket that day!

How is it possible to get 36.0 gr. of H4198 in a PPC case? It must have been a gorilla! James

I got it straight from Larry about 5 minutes ago James. He was using a 30PPC at 100 yards using 29.9 grains of H4198 and he was using 36.0 grains of H4198 in his 30BR that he was using at 200 yards. And as stated earlier he was using 123 grain moly coated bullets.
