Jacket manufacturing

Your correct about the talent required

Yep there are plenty of precission machinists out there who could make the tools to draw fine jackets. The real strife is obtaining really good gilding metal sheet to begin with. Not only does the chemistry of the material and metallurgy need to be correct and consistent from batch to batch but getting sheets that don't vary in thickness is also difficult. In fact this part of the process would make up a large portion of making jackest.
Andy.

Thats not the problem Andy.
Most of the suppliers only want to sell tonage. Its almost impossable to buy guilding metal samples for a resonable price.
The amount of draws is correct . 5 or 6 per jacket.
Ist coining 2nd cuping sometime this can be combined. The first draw second draw etc.
Its possable to gain ca libers in the draw cycles. IE cup first draw 40 cal short second 35 cal 3rd 30 cal 4th 25 cal etc. then pinch trimed
It then ironed and trimed . drawing sizes start with coin size and thicknes Its also possable to buy cups. Thats quantity also , Per month on a regular basis.
Thats where the $$$$$$$$ come in

Had the good fortune of doing a tour at Nosler last summer. Very interesting.

I found out why partition bullets are so expensive.

Also neat to see them make the lead 'slugs' from a 75# ingot.
