LR-30S bolt
Here's a comparison of a Colt AR-15 5.56x45 bolt assembly and a DPMS LR-30S bolt assembly.
The AR-15 assembly weighs 11.3 oz. The LR-30S weighs 18.9oz
I've done a websearch for mention of broken bolts in both AR-15s and AR-10s and haven't found much. Most that i've found were related to the 6.5 Grendel or other 7.62x39 based cartridges in AR-15s using unreasonably hot loads. I found none for the LR-30S or or other AR-10 variants. Maybe I just don't know where to look.
I handload for my ARs and don't push them to the SAAMI limits. I don't consider the LR-30S to be dangerous. I have seen loads published on the internet which I do consider dangerous for AR-15s. Could an LR-30S be blown up with a hot load? Sure. I don't think there's any rifle which can't be.
