I'd say that most dogs given half a chance are better people than a lot of people are. Given my choices I'd just as soon hang around with a good dog or several good dogs (most are) than a lot of people I've come in contact with over the years. As someone (maybe Mark Twain) said, "the principal difference between a man and a dog is that if you take a dog in off the street and feed him he won't bite you."
