We are hosting our first sanctioned IBS score match At the Bluegrass Sportsmans League, south of Lexington, Ky......at Handy's Bend on Sunday August 23,2009. It will start at 9:00 am and we will shoot both 100 & 200 yds. Please try to be there by 8:00 to register and set up flags. This will be a sort of trial balloon and hope that turn-out makes it possible to hold more matches next year. It is a beautiful range and we will be shooting from 16 benches, so the match should move along.

I can't promise the good conditions that Jackie had at Buck Creek last Saturday, but a good time should be had by all.

Jim Campbell will be running a cash option based on x's being 11 points, so more people will have a chance at the big bucks.

We are at: N 37.47877, W 84.39759

2500 Handy's Bend Rd.
Wilmore, Ky 40390
Go south out of Lexington on Hwy.68 and take the left fork at the Marathon station onto Hwy.29 and go through Wilmore and past Wilmore, take a left onto Hand's Bend Road and dead-end into the club. The gate should be open but if not dial 008 on the gate keypad and we will let you in electronically without delay. If you get lost or need anything, call me at 859 361-0509. Several good motels are available on Highway 68, just past the beltline(hwy.#4) going south out of Lex. The range is a little more than 12 miles south of Lex.

Score at Bluegrass

Just an addendum:

The match should go smooth as we have shot matches here for years...Hunter Benchrest, centerfire group, and rimfire, I/R, ARA, and BR 50.

Jack lyons, Mike nibblett, and Steve Sansom will be running things and we have an experienced volunteer to oversee scoring.

We will feed shooters chilidogs and etc. around noon and we do have restroom facilities with running water for those so inclined.

Hope you can come and share a great day with us and maybe let us know if you plan to attend so we can get enough food.

By the way, the Marathon Station before Wilmore has a deli with great breakfast biscuits and all that stuff.

Yall come!!!!

Thanks for the results. Good to see my pal Hope Carleton's name on there. Bluegrass, Kentucky is about the coolest name for a place, ever. :)

Good shootin'. -Al (just East of Bucksnort Junction) :D

is that darned stuff really blue?

glp and longrange 223

GLP:

How they named bluegrass. When the early settlers looked at a dew covered field of this thin bladed grass, it looked blue. Hence the name.

Longerange 223: With old age and doctors working on me, I could not take even the recoil of a 6ppc. I solved the problem with a rifle that weighs 13 pounds 6 ounces. Then Darrell Horsley added a Limb Saver recoil pad. He cut the stock and did not even chip the paint. Finally had a pocket sewn into the inside of the shoulder of a shirt and added 2 layers of 3/8 rubber carpet pad. With all that, I can with this aged carcass, stand the recoil.

I want to thank Dick Grosbier and Joan Borden for helping get us set up with the IBS and thank all of the shooters who came and made it such a fun shoot.

Joe

It was a good match Joe! That range proved to be a real challenge for me. Good job with the match, and you shot very well. Home cooking!;) Lunch was good and the people were fantastic. Some good shooters and some were shooting those pesky little 6ppc's, and giving the 30's all they could handle! Congrats to all the winners!---Mike Ezell

Mike,
We sure do appreciate your (as well as those other familiar faces:)) support of our first efforts holding and IBS score match. Joe and Mike worked hard to make this happen and everyone involved felt like it was a success...I hope there are more in the works for the future.
Al, you must'a read the "list" from the bottom to find my name..but if you were registering the fun that was "had", I would be near the top:D

Thanks to All
-H
