I have a shoot coming up on the 14th of this month and i have a firing pin
sping dragging bad..

Its so bad that when you drop the firing pin assembly into the bolt it drops 3/4 of the way down and stops, then you have to push it the rest of the way down by hand.. It looks to me that the threads for the shroud are to deep causing the spring to drag on the end closest to the shroud..

With the complete bolt assembled, when you shut it, you can hear the spring rubbing on the inside of the bolt.

I know this cant be good and need fixed, any ideas..I hate to beg but HELLLLP...

What you need is a spring with a courser pitch, (if that is what you call the coils per inch), so you can get the same spring pressure,at the same distance, without it wadding up on the firing pin.

The first thing you have to do is take the pin assy apart to see what pitch the spring is now, and contact someone like Brownells or Sinclair to get the correct spring.

You could cut that oneoff untill it doesn't wad up, but then your firing pin spring pressure would not be adequate.

Dwight Scott is a genius at this sort of thing. You might try and give him a call..........jackie

If this is a rem and has the lockable shroud, replace the complete
firing pin assembly. It seems someone should make firing pin springs
that are wound the other direction, thereby not in sequence with
threads in bolt. Rem bolts are rarely if ever cleaned up inside, and have
a rather rough finish. They need cleaned up and polished inside, to
get rid of the rust left from the blueing tank.

I got a problem

Yes send it to Kiff Call first/
I must say it doesn't sound like something that would get out of Davids shop but''''' mistakes do happen.
I would overnite it and have David send it back the same way.
It may cost a few bucks but it will be well worth it.
Daves a first class guy.
Make sure you call and talk to Dave''

Fixed, thanks guys

I got it fixed.. Took a little off the spring (1 coil )made a big differance and its still got 20.5# of spring tension..
Thanks again
