More to come

Side note,

"Friend" Jackie had small group of the weekend in the LV 100.
His sceamer measured .071!!!

Just think about it, If he wouldn't have "threaded his barrel"
it might have been a .041!!!!:cool::cool:

These results are unofficial, more to come later. I'm tired...Vic

Congratulations to SAM ARNETT

I'm always happy to see Charles Huckeba finish at the top, but I am also especially proud of the man who came in second. Sam Arnett has worked long and hard during the past few years to reach the level of skill he is displaying this year.

I'm proud and happy for you Sam. You deserve it my friend, keep up the good work.

What A Great Match

We had about 58 shooters, seems everybody came with a "win" in mind.
Tomball was it's typical self, really crappy conditions. It still amazes me how two flags that are just 15 yards apart can show a complete reversal in a 15 mph push.
My hat is off to "Sir" Charles. He built up a good lead Saturday, and we tried our darndest to catch him, but he knows how to win.
I wasted all day Saturday shooting a new barrel that I knew after 3 groups was a real piece of crap. I struggled with that future "die material" for two yardages, replaced it with one of my "proven" barrels for Sunday, and won the LV Grand. Sam Arnett and I had a real battle all day for the LV Grand, both of us shot "teen aggs" in the 100, both Rifles were shooting at a really great level of agging capability. He got me in that 100 because he just flat out shot me. Congratulations, Sam.
I should have never went to a match as big as The Crawfish with a barrel that was just broke in, and I "thought" was going to be good. I tried several things, even dropped the load once, (well, sorta), and it just insisted on popping shots, several times AGAINST the condition. It would not respond to my tuner, I figure about a .260 agg was the best it could do in a tunnel. I don't get many bad Kriegers, but this one is mediocre at best.
It was sure good to see Dusty Stevens and Ray Porter make the trip down, Ray had a good week end, and Dusty had his moments. I think both will agree that Tomball is one of the toughest places in the Country to shoot.
We had a good time with the Team Competition as well. We had over $1900 to split up among 12 4-man teams, and a couple of teams walked off with over $600 to slit 4 ways. We paid all the way to three places. Heck, it paid for the Entry fee, and the gas home.
As you might know, the way we do the teams is by drawing names four at a time out of a hat. It is just the "luck of the draw" as to who you will get teamed up with.
Thanks to Ken Star, he is a real trooper. He has been the official scorer and co-match director for The Tomball Gun Club for as long as I can remember. The match literally runs like a fine watch. Watching those Boy Scouts hussle out to get the targets changed is a real treat. The Tomball Gun Club gives the majority of the money raised in our two Registered Matches to this local scout troupe to help those that can't afford to go to camp. It is money well spent, plus the boys get to see some really fine shooting.
Can't wait for The Bluebonnet in two weeks.........jackie

The Crawfish

We had a lot of old white guys, a couple of black guys, some younger members,Cajuns and red necks, even Larry Baggett. There were some hot women benchrest groupies ( a relative of John Horn, I can say no more.). There were lots of boy scouts bursting with youthful exuberance and hormones. One notable individual sprinted 100 yards to the targets carrying all the moving backer inserts. Jokes abounded. Men casually and repeatedly bragged about their genitalia. The younger shooters listened intently thus passing down a hallowed male tradition from generation to generation. Money changed hands. Men told fellow shooters things that they wouldn't tell their wives, children, pastor or especially a federal grand jury. Groups were shot that defied repeated description. For the first time Tomball SWAT was not called in when the team money was handed out. Thank you very much Jackie for the generous donation of $1000 seed money to the team pot and for the 15 Hell's Angels you hired as security against Jay Lynn Gore. The resulting uproar was so prolonged when they tried to take back the $100 dollars that Jackie gave to him accidentally that I suggest hiring someone really scary next time like Janet Reno. Tim

Way to go Charles and Sam.

Sam was shooting all new stuff, actions, stocks, barrels....must have had some good smithing and good tuning by Sam.

Charles was shooting a tuner. Charles is a tough competitor! He works as hard as anybody I know to win and deserves everything he achieves.
Sam did a hell of a job and was real close. Everybody better watch out for him.
Butch

Another BIG THANK YOU from a new shooter. This was my first match & I wanted to say thanks to all the officials & the troops that worked there buts of. I am already looking forward to next year.
Also Thanks to Gary Walters for the encouragement when I had my melt down at 200 yds. He helped me re-cover from it.
Congratulations Charles from russell m. Thanks for representing the sport so well. MY wife & daughter made several comments to me on what a wonderfull man you are.
