Im a fairly new benchrest shooter. Was just curious for practice would 25+mph wind gusts be something that should be practiced in. I do have my new never used flags (never used flags before till now). Was just curious what the thoughts would be. Seems the wind blows hard when I have time to go to the range.

Anytime you can go to the range, do it. You will learn way more from shooting in the wind than a calm day. Fact is, most match conditions are much less than favorable. Seems like it always blows hard here.

Sooner or later, you're going to shoot a match where it's blowing 25+, and if it would at least stay a consistent direction, you would be really happy.;) The first order of business is to make sure your flags will stay up in such conditions. If they get blown over, make some stakes to hold them down.

Learn to shoot in the wind. I remember shooting a service rifle match at 600yds after a hurricane, aiming at the next target over and using 7 minutes of windage.

Ideally master one variable at a time before trying to master them all simultaneously. I would think step one is to become familiar with your rifle and bench setup, tune, etc. After you see how your whole rig performs in known conditions, then you can see how the wind affects it.

I agree with Tom. Your new to the game. Get Boyer's book and read it, tune your gun the way he says but in mild wind, get used to how it reacts and as you build confidence, shoot in stronger and stronger wind. However, at 25mph wind, you will probably start watching trees as much as flags because your ribbons will be maxed out straight before that.

I am defintley ready to start practicing. I might try to get out there early in the am and give it a shot. We will see how it goes.
