How do top shooters handle their barrels?

No, it is not "heartening" at all. My hat is off to those that have the time and money to find something that will win year after year.

Bad barrels vs good barrels, over the years I have used at least 7 different brands and twists from 3 to 8. I usually chamber 4-5 each season. In all those years and in all those barrels I have only found one bad barrel. It had an oversized spot about 6" from the muzzle and it would copper within about 5-6 shots after cleaning.

I sent that barrel back to the manufacturer and they promptly and politely replaced it. In the chambering method I use and have taught several others I have only had one barrel that coppered on breakin, and that was only for the first shot on that barrel.

In all those barrels and in all those years I guess I have been lucky in that I have never found one that shot bad, would not shoot, or shot great enough that I could call it a hummer.

I guess one has to "believe" in the hereafter or in barrels. I don't believe in hummers per se.
