Hooked for sure

At the beginning of this year I met a Father/Son team that seemed to be interested in shooting BR. They started off shooting the factory class at Fairfax and eventually wandered to a couple other ranges. At a match down in Richmond, Adrian VanGorder had lent one of his VFS rifles to Alex Tolley (son) to shoot the match with. At the end of the match, Alex was surprised to find out that his Father Kevin had actually arranged a purchase of that rifle for him. He was elated to say the least. This was just a few matches after shooting their first one. Anyhow, since then, Kevin has acquired his own rifle as well as a Loading trailer, and all the rest of the amenities. Looks like its already paying off in a big way too. Kevin has found himself on top of the Rookie of the year standings for 2009. Congratulations Kevin!!! Way to go and I wish you and Alex continued success in the coming years...Hal

I love stories like that.

Congradulations

Kevin, I have enjoyed shooting with you this year and look forward to the coming season. You are a good competitor and fun to shoot with.

Here is a picture of Kevin taken just minutes after winning his first place win in Richmond, Virginia. I was sitting on the bench next to him and got to watch him try to keep his cool during the last match.

Here is 16 year old Alex though I think he was 15 at the time. This picture was taken in May where Alex was High Junior.
Alex finished the year at 6th place in the Rookie standings

Congrats!

Congrats to both Kevin and Alex. I'm hoping to get to shoot with you all LOTS more in the coming years! Not like I've been doing much shooting lately, but sometimes other things - like family - need to take priority...I'll be out there though and hope to see you all soon!

Congratulations

Kevin,
Congratulations on winning Rookie of the Year. You earned it. You have shown a total commitment to IBS Score Shooting and you continually try to learn so that you can continue to improve in the sport. Also, congratulations to Alex (Kevin's son and my nephew) who finished 6th in the Rookie standings even though he had to split his passion for score shooting with his passion for golf (Liberty High School Golf Team). After Kevin and Alex began score shooting this year, they prodded me into shooting factory class with my Cooper .223. Initially, Kevin even loaded my ammo for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the competition, the great folks that you meet at the matches, and spending time with Kevin (my brother-in-law) and Alex (my nephew). I know that Kevin's, Alex's and my learning curve was shortened tremendously because great shooters such as Adrian VanGorder, Wayne France, Hal Drake, David Apple, and Steve Stanley were willing to share with us there considerable knowledge of the sport. Congratulation also to Kevin's 30BR (Harley) and Alex's 30BR (Eugene). I am hoping to have my 30BR from Mr. Borden by March. It will be known as (Dudley) as Alex says I remind him of Dudley in the movie "Wild Hogs".

Congratulations!!

Congratulations to Kevin & Alex for such great accomplishments in such a short time. All the best to you in the future. Kevin I know that you are having a ball sharing all this with your son, something I have wished many times I could have done. And, good on you Hal for reaching out to share our sport with newcomers, especially Alex. We need the young folks. Good luck to you all in the coming year; hope to see you at a match sometime.

I think it should also be known that Kevin and Alex literally dragged my son Tommy and me to the range and got us hooked, and I couldn't be happier to have such a great way to share time with my son. Thanks and congratulations Kevin and Alex!
