Does anyone know a home made recipe for removing copper fouling, which is not going to damage anything any more than the likes of Hoppes or whatever, either metal or timber, or is it some kinda secret recipe.

Equally for the so called high tech teflon gun lube, can a synthetic store bought oil of some kind be used to replace the mega $ little tins they flog to us poor shooters who can't afford bullets after paying out $50 for a few ounces of a name brand gun oil.

Don't know about the bore cleaner although you could crank up a batch of Ed's Red and add a little oil soluble ammonium compound to it I suppose. If you went in with a few friends everyone would end up with a quart or so of bore cleaner if I remember the formula correctly.

Some guys who shoot semi-auto rifles, AR's and the like, use synthetic automotive oil (5W-30 or 50) to lube their rifles. A quart or liter of something like Mobil 1 shouldn't cost an arm and a leg and be a nearly lifetime supply. If you're using it in the rifle's bore I wouldn't want teflon in the oil. Smells terrible when it burns, and screws up accuracy as it burns out of the bore. Yes I was one of the nitwits who tried Friction Block in rifle bores 15 or 20 years ago, and couldn't figure out why accuracy went away after a few shots. It was the teflon.
