Commence Fire could have been Commence Rain and wind because that’s when the rains and wind began. The first thing obvious to us was that Kurt Schultz and Rob Fairbanks were absent. We got the news that Kurt was in hospital with a possible stroke. He had been taken there the previous night by EMS. Kurt and Rob always partner for the drive from Rogers City. About the time the matches ended the rain also stopped and we had another call that Kurt had suffered an attack of Vertigo. We are becoming a bunch of doctoring old men.
Matt Dardas and I had 250-14X, Jim Militello ran with 250-13X. Eric Simmons finished with 250-12. Steve Duranczyk (Who?) the new guy with a new to him Hall action, Terry Leonard stock rifle from Clay Spencer had a nice 250-11X in his first ever BR match. Jeremiah had scope problems late and could manage only 241-7X. The lost points came on his last target. Jeremiah’s 12 year young son finished with 230-0X. But he won the donut derby and he had a smile on his face the whole day.
The next Harrison match will be July 17. Tune in for the match and medical reports then or better yet come on up to Harrison for a match surrounded by sylvan pleasures and treasures.

Sat next to Kurt last weekend. "we had another call that Kurt had suffered an attack of Vertigo".
I wonder if he took off his double hearing protection. Even then he seemed out of sorts.....
Nice guy and good shooter. Hope he gets well.....or stays well.......

I don’t know, Tim.
Isn’t Vertigo caused by inner ear problems or inner ear infection?
If it’s an infection in Kurt’s case, maybe medication is all he needs. We could play doctor here but I’m of the opinion he has doctors now paying attention.
Weren’t you a corpsman in the US Navy? I was infantry, light weapons, so I’m not good for much.

Electrician. The family has medical background. Sister was ER Nurse at Mercy Muskegon. She had cancer 5 times past in 2014.
Step Dad just passed away. Day after turning 79. Rich was a Corpsman 1st Class, retired 20 yrs. Went to Viet Nam 3 times with Marines. Said he spent almost 6 yrs. there. His unit would ship back after a year. The Navy made him stay.
My Mom worked at a Hospital. Nurse's Aide, Unit Secretary, and IT Dept. That's how she met Rich.

Harrison Is Tough!

The Harrison Sportsman's Club 100 yard range is indeed a tough range to shoot on - especially when the sun is shining and it has just rained. For you see, the grade of the range rises from the benches all the way to the target frames. At 50 yards, your bullets are passing over the grade at about 2 feet or less. So, it presents a very challenging mirage condition (that we had). Mix that in with the wind and we had a potpourri of soup to look through!

It was very nice to return to the northern woods where the Jackpine Savages roam!

Hi Matt, Last time I shot there it was very windy. The wind was blocked by the range house. And came around the sides of the building. Very challenging. "is the wind going left or going right???" How can I time this??? Will it stay for 2 shots or just 1...???
And sunny.

Too many of these northern ranges shoot to the east, which makes for problems early in the morning. Southern ranges all point to the “Nawth” as Mickey Coleman would say. As tough as conditions could have been we had periods when we could get some decent shots off hence, all the 250s
