Gene won the SS for the second time in three years and the SS warm-up for ...I think...the 4th time in the last 5 years. James

Another class act...Jeff Gaidos

Someone stated earlier that it should have been a tie. Well, according to the way things are measured in Benchrest, it was not a tie, but according to the mathematical laws of statistics, it is not valid to average to 10 thousandths place when the original measurements were made in thousandths. I know that I will have to put on my fire suit, but that is okay. I did not detect any bitterness from Jeff Gaidos because of this narrow loss. He is a class act. James

Jeff Gaidos

Particularly fond of Jeff's success. He was one of the fellows that took advantage of the "loaner" program years ago. Worked pretty good that loaner deal and I wish more folks would make the investment.

Wilbur,

What is this "loaner" program you speak of??? This is the first time I have heard of it.

Thanks

My math knowledge being extremely limited , it came to me that if you average 2 and 3 , you should find 2,5 : data were not in halves nor tenths , average just happens to have a decimal

By two or three, do you mean 2.0 and 3.0 (exactly 2 or exactly three) or are you talking about a rounded 2 and a rounded three i.e 1.937 and 3.001? There is a difference. James

I'm not Wilbur but the SE region competitors had a complete setup Rifle, bullets, powder, rest etc. available to any new shooter that wanted to try benchrest. It was all donated by the competitors to promote new folks getting in the sport. Wilbur was the SE region director at the time and he was instrumental in starting this program.

Steve,

Thanks for heads up....

I have been looking for the line in the rules and found it only in the WBSF rule book : groups will be measured in thousandths , and aggregates will be DISPLAYED in TEN thousandth ...
The sum of their aggs are .5457 and .5459 : tie at the thou , but 2 ten thou apart : so their 2G aggz
end up .27285 and .27295 : if we accept that ranking is ruled on what is displayed
then their displayed 2 gun aggs are . 2728 and . 2729 , without rounding , because their figures are also 1 ten thou apart at the 100 thou rank .
