Hi guys,
I am a long time reloader and like everything will continue to learn. But today i am hoping to learn something from you guys.
I have heard about this before but have never attempted it.

What is the best way to make a false shoulder on my new 220 swift brass to fire form in my 220 Ackley imp chamber.
I am hoping to minimize the risk of stretching the sidewall immediately forward of the web. Any thoughts please

Expand the neck with a .243/6mm mandrel and re-size 7/8 of same neck to hold a .224" bullet, remaining 1/8" neck will interference fit, lube lugs.........Don
 
I thought the whole premise of the Ackley chambers was that you could fire factory ammo without any problems and then you are fireformed and good to go.
 
As Steve said, When an Ackley chamber is cut properly, the old chamber will need to be shortened or if cut properly the new chamber will have a slight crush on the factory brass.

That's what great about the Ackley line of wildcats,if done right, you can shoot standard ammo and when your done you have fireformed brass.
That way you don't have to wear out your barrel fire forming.
If you wanted you could always seat your bullet out, to get a light "Jam". Be sure to reduce your load.

Thanks Don and others for the replies, I will get a 6mm mandrel and do what you said. I was thinking of not using a bullet to fire form and using the cream of wheat method. But I still have to break in the barrel and sight in the scope, so I will do that with a bullet and then plan not use a bullet. I haven’t done this before so. How do I determine how many grains is need to get a good sharp shoulder on the case. I am thinking of using unique?
 
I have always used bullseye just below the bottom of the neck with wax and no cream of wheat.

Why don't you just shoot it first and see how it shoots. it mite surprise you how well it shoots firer forming brass. You have to break it in any way.
 
When forming brass from 22/250 to 22/250 Improved, i shot prairie dogs. I did not tell them and they didn't know the difference.
