i have some 1968 lc match 30'06 brass that was
"damaged" when it was dis-assembled to be sold as components.
it it pretty decent brass but does require one full power load to
be fired to put it back in shape.
the damage is mainly the shoulder dinged up.
i have fire formed small cases, but never even considered
doing a full size case just to straighten it out.
yes to working up a fast pistol powder/no bullet load ,
no , stick with a bullet load with normal powder ?
what say you ??

the rifle with this brass and the current load shoot just under 5/8".
so i either shoot 50 rounds to form the brass so it is usable,
or i fire form it first.
just a std adl 30'06 not a target rifle

ANYTHING you can do conventionally you can do with pistol powder......better.

I blow out 338L cases routinely. Blow them out a lot.

I fire formed 220 Russian to PPC and 6 BR to 30 BR using pistol powder, just fine. But pressure seems hight. Not sure a case this big is sure a full charge of pistol powder.

Not bullet, of course

i do it at the range, one at a time,
with no bullets around.
$25 lee powder thrower and inexpensive scale are perfect
for this at the range task.
work up till you get a crisp shaped case.

the only caveat as to using pistol powder is screwing up and loading a bullet
BOOM
