Final agreement

As I promised earlier, on this forum,I met with my Gunsmith today, at our local private Range, to try to figure out why I was getting blue patches from a brand new unfired barrel.

After much head scratching and troubleshooting, My Gunsmith recommended a satisfactory resolution that i agreed with and accepted, with no reservations.

Nothing else, will be written,by me, about this experience. I am certain we both learned something, that will be of future benefit.

I am glad you worked it out!!!!

If you are satisfied, then I suppose the problem is resolved.

But, you know that everybody who has read this ongoing saga is thinking,....."there is only a few scenarios where a supposedly brand new cut rifled barrel would have copper in it, and look well used".

As a Machinist , I certainly have thought about it.

Remember, that thing on the end of cleaning rod is brass, brass is mostly copper. Your blue could be from it.

I would imagine with a bunch of barrels and actions laying all over the place, a bad day some sore muscles and joints the night before, not much sleep, a pill for pain and maybe the wrong barrel got on the wrong action. Ive made mistakes before, and I would hope someone would give me the benefit of the doubt. The smith that ruined my gun told me it was my reloading, he never admitted it was his fault. Even after it was fixed and we knew what happened. If this was an honest mistake I am glad it was resolved. If not I hope the man learned something about forgiveness.

Just speaking in generalities, in the game of Benchrest, mediocracy is widely accepted.

And then, IMO, lying comes in second place.
