Don't know anything about these actions and wanted to get some ones opinion on them that has had experience with them. I have found a pretty good deal on one but wanted some input before I buy, its a medium size action dual port if this helps( Pro's and Con's) Thanks bdale :)

farley

I've had one. I'd rate it right up there with function and smoothness. I've heard others that have had complaints but that wasn't my experience at all.

What model is it? Firefly, blackwidow? is it a cast or billet action? Does it have the adjustable trigger hanger?

I think its cast. its not a black widow I think its one of their older actions, reason I ask for info I know little about these actions:confused:

All its says on action is Farley.

here is a firefly model.

i think they are fine as far as custom actions go. one thing to consider, if you ever need parts from Farley, you better have a hall of fame buddy to call for you or you'll never get them...

After seeing your picture I think its a Firefly;)

Itll say firefly on it. Im sure youre talking about just the regular model. Real nice smooth action. I can get stuff from farley anytime i need it. But i have been a pretty good customer since the beginning. I own farley rest #2 and got an action out of every batch

it MAY say firefly on it. i have two actions in front of me and both only show "Farley" and a SN. since i have been the owner of a firefly, i've never seen one with the word 'firefly' on the action.

Glenn, the Firefly is his short version, kinda like a XP 100 length.

My two Farleys are quite old, one, 1996, the other, 1997. They are cast bodies, with S-7 tool steel bolts.

These two actions are still the best shooting actions I have ever owned. I personally think when Jim abandoned the screw in shroud and brought out that Black Widow, they went downhill.

My 30 BR RL and 6PPC drop port Farley

I seem to recall Farley found a QC problem with previously made receivers that had been shipped months or years prior..... a hardness issue, about 5 years ago. There was very recently ( it sold yesterday) a super deal on a used Farley in the classifieds, but who wants a recalled (and potentially unsafe) action and forever wait times that Farley is known for? Can anyone refresh our minds so as to not let another super deal slip away?

Yes that bolt lug problem is long gone. It affected very few like 25 and he checked every one made before and after it. No worries
