Crucuble steel file chapter 11

Chapter 11

My business has been on the receiving end of numerous Chapter 11 episodes, every time in the not so enviable position as an "unsecured creditor". When you are in this position, the "reconstruction plan" that is submitted might just as well say "your screwed", abiet on a fancy legal letterhead.

I wish Crucible the best. They are caught up in a cascading downturn, not of their own making. But they also have a entire list of "unsecured creditors" who will soon get a simple statement with a fancy legal letterhead saying "you are screwed"............jackie

As an originating source manufacture, imagine how many times Crucible has been on the receiving end of a Chapter 11 restructured payment schedule..................Don

To All! Shawn has always been a pleasure to deal with and has always been straight with us from day one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as we are concerned it is business as usual with Crucible and Shawn! He knows our needs and we are ordering more steel as we speak here.

Yes it is a shame how companies like Crucible along with others are caught up in the mess with the auto industry etc.....and with the auto industry filing for bankruptcy and they are not being forced to pay they're vendors etc...it effects us all in ways we normally don't think and the people at the top who make these business decisions in most ways are out of touch with the real world and how they're decisions will impact everyone.

Crucible is flat out making the best gun barrel material in stainless and as far as I know currently the only one in the States making they're material here in the States!

Some other steel suppliers and or barrel makers have been getting material made out of country because it is cheaper but the quality is not necessarily there. This is due to the economy etc.....also.

This whole economy situation weather it be the banking crisis , automotive situation or real estate situation etc....is effecting us all more than we know.

I don't see Crucible going anywhere and they will continue making a top quality product like they normally do!

interesting info regarding the company. Personally, why would a specialty high end benchrest gun barrel maker want to use anything but the best? God, there are so many variables in this game that I don't know of anyone who buys match grade barrels that gives a hoot if they have to pay a few bucks more for the best. However, until this thread came about, most of us end users don't know the inside story regarding gun barrel steel, where its made and its quality. Skimping on anything in benchrest is a recipe for second best.

When I shop for things in general I 1) try to stay away from WallMart since they are the biggest free market supporter of the Chinese Communist regime, 2) Do my best not to buy anything Chinese and 3) buy American if I can and if I can't, I try to buy from a democratic country. Sometimes I can't, but I try my damndest!! --Greg
