Christmas morning, out my back door...

Al

I FEEL your pain. I suggest that you introduce your neighbor to the proper use of FLAGS so that he may be able to judge the position of the wandering sidewalk (proper flagging is best done PREFREEZE UP). This way he may avoid the unneccesary mutilation of said lawn. I LOVE THE WHITE STUFF :D:D:D:D Hate the cold

I don't miss it a bit! My sister sends down similar pix from Nome (gotta' love this modern tech!) and I just smile and snuggle a little deeper into my chair, it being nearly down to 35degrees outside. No snow or nuttin' just COLD for here! :D

I'm getting ready to go down and shoot for the next 5-6hrs...... breeze is twitching up pretty fierce and I'll have to only open the window partway. or wear a sweatshirt..........

Nawwww, I'll just crack the shooting window. No need to dress up for it. Maybe have to put a hunk of cardboard up and block one of my windflags..... man I HATE this brutal winter weather!

LOL

Your Tullamore Dew is....

very good but, I've been enjoying Bushmill's Black Bush this Holiday Season! Hard to beat that Irish whiskey.

Happy New Year to all,

Jim

A few for our warm weather pals:

After you've beaten a drift into (temporary) submission, a small victory dance is appropriate.l

Al, thanks for those pictures and your stories. Well done all the way around.

And not having had dinner, nor prospects of same this evening (the woman being at the mall), I'm glad you're living the good life for the rest of us who are a bit too soft to take the bull by the horns.

Hats off to you from one of the many pantywaists on the left coast.

:D

Sorry, Al - those pictures were just too much for me, I have to be cruel. Here's this morning, by noon we were in shortsleeves.

What a beautifully manacured firing berm. I wish my lawn looked like that, at least when it comes mowing time.

Thanks guys for the pic's.

(The days are getting longer, we're almost there!! Only 84 days till the Shamrock ...and...Only 4 months, 30 days, and 3 hours till the Super Shoot)

German: At least you're wearing gloves in the first picture. ;) Looks like a brisk 11:00 breeze?

Short sleeves by noon??? That's just evil, man....... :D -Al

Great Post Al

But your last picture Al, I'd have to say is MY favorite.

we should be done cleaning everyone out by Monday PM.

Happy new year everyone.

I think we ended up somewhere around 20" of "cash" or I mean snow.

Thurmont Aquatic Gardens and Rifle Club

Thurmont Conservations and Sportsmans Club is located on the Monacacy River and on occasion it will "back up a little" onto the club grounds and in this case from the melting snow. In this case it has receded from the shooting platform some but the access road is under water as is the camp line.

Wow I thought the snow was bad in CO, nothing compared to you guys up north!

David: that's gotta' make changin' targets a real treat! Tough to shovel water, that's for sure.

This one should be titled: 'Keep Your Mouth Shut, Al.' My bride snapped this of me moving snow at my neighbors place. They were out of town for the Holiday and I volunteered to move any snow. My neighbor and good pal Jim came over and we tagged teamed the evil flakes.

The guy two houses down from me must have an 'in' with somebody to get this kind of help. Maybe it's Redrock? Hmmmm....

Things are pretty well back to normal, now. I90 is open across the entire state the people from the East side of the state that went to the Black Hills for a white Christmas can get back home and visa versa. They really got pounded, with 40" in Lead and Deadwood. Rapid City had 24" with measured winds of 76 mph. at one point.

Stay warm. :) -Al

That first pic above.......

Maybe it's my faulty memory (It's been a looong time since't I've moved snow with a blower!) but the way I remember it........... we blew the snow AWAY from the garage and driveway on the outside pass.

You shore you guys aren't getting to kinda' LIKE this????

:D

(I actually do understand.... in the DA'kotas the rules change...... it's "always down the wind" even if your target is 50ft away!)

'Ya gotta' keep the prevailing winds in mind. Stacking it on the North side is bad news, as it will drift into the drive big time. So, we move it to the downwind side. Sometimes that means moving it halfway, then moving it again.

Savvy 'Forbidden Zoners' never buy or build a North facing home. ;)

Hi Al

Looks like Iowa doesn't get all the crap weather. Thanks for taking the pressure off us.

I reconsidered my trip to the shooting range today.... -25 C (-13 F) is too cold even for break-in... :D

Al... I feel your pain. We didn't get as much drifting in south-central Minnesota (Mankato, to be exact), but the snow did fall. We picked up at least 16-18 inches last week.

The pile at the end of the driveway ended up being a few inches taller than the mailbox. I'm lucky enough to have shovel, not a snowblower (%Y#$^%%$$%^&Q!!!!!).

I guess it's a good thing my back and shoulders are still good...
