Cases For The Nationals

The way you chuck the case how does it spin?

The case is a press fit on the driving mandrel, which is machined to the exact size of the bullet you will be using. It has plenty of grip to allow the material to be removed with the cut you see there. I am using a .269 neck, so I am really only taking about .0025 to the side off.

By the way, I fire the cases first to make what is eccentially no neck turn case made from a 220 Russian. That way I am dealing with a perfectly straight case with the shoulder already established.

That is quite an impressive way of turning case necks. You handle that lathe like you were playing a musical instrument. Watching precision machine work in progress is fascinating! Thanks for sharing.
