California's new Gun Laws??

Does the requiring of registration of ammunition also cover ammunition components?

Benchrest Shooters purchase large quantities of bullets, primers, powder, and cases. Will purchases of these now require a background check?

I can't find a full text of the new laws, but the usually contain some obscure phrase that tends to make criminals out of law abiding citizens.

Also, Gov Brown vetoed a bill that would ake the theft of a forearm a felony.

Would't common sense dictate that the stealing of a forearm be a felony, considering that most firearms are stolen for use in other criminal activities?

And a lot of gun law victims myself included who can't do doodly squat about the rapid and rabid madness in this state. If the liberials have their life in immediate danger they will be dead long before the cops ever get there to protect them. My last call was for a restraining order being violated and 16 hrs. later they finaly drove up. The officer said what you me to do about, I said haul there ass to jail. He said the paper work would take 1-2 hours to fill out and wasn't worth his time to do it. He said he had more important things to do so I got pissed and started pushing the issue until he said one more word out of your mouth and I am hauling you off to jail and simply left. The restraining order the judge signed wasn't worth the cost of the paper it was written on. If one wants a fighting chance to survive out here they best arm themselves its the only real hope they have.

Here is what I have found regarding SB1235: " SEC. 2. Section 16150 of the Penal Code is amended to read:

16150. (a) As used in Section 30300, “ammunition” means [SUB]handgun[/SUB] ammunition as defined in Section 16650. this part, except as specified in subdivision (b), “ammunition” means one or more loaded cartridges consisting of a primer case, propellant, and with one or more projectiles. “Ammunition” does not include blanks.

(b) As used in subdivision (a) of Section 30305 and in Section 30306, “ammunition” includes, but is not limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed loader, autoloader, or projectile capable of being fired from a firearm with a deadly consequence. “Ammunition” does not include blanks. "

The word handgun was stricken from the Amendment.

Make of that what you will...

"Bullet". "Cartridge". "Projectile". Does that man if Bart's sells a shooter 5000 bullets, or Bruno sells him 100 220 Russian cases, a yellow form will have to be filled out the same as if you were buying a firearm.

yep, disarm the public, that's what its all about- always has been- has nothing to do with criminals or terrorists that is just convenience to push the issue by playing on emotions of the moment.

Those in power never like the thought that the populace could or has the means to rise up and displace them. In the feudal days of Europe it was against the law for the commoner to have implements of warfare.

Gents,

Effective July 1, 2017, per AB 1446, the possession of a high-cap mag becomes illegal. It is an infraction if you are caught with one.

As we all know...because it is breathlessly parroted about so much by certain political types...high-capacity mags are inherently evil, completely un-necessary, serve no sporting purpose, make it easier for mass shooters to kill people, are designed for war, are the preferred magazine of choice by gang members and drug dealers, etc. In short, high-cap magazines are a deadly epidemic, are responsible for more deaths than cancer, and need to be made illegal. California will be much safer now...

Now...is it just me, or does anybody else find it odd that the possession of the much maligned high-cap magazine, responsible for so much death and destruction, and a grave threat to society as a whole, was made an infraction?

To put this in perspective, other infractions in the state of California:

-A broken/non-operable tail light
-Unauthorized re-sale of a ski lift ticket
-Eating or drinking on public transportation when prohibited

Yawn...

This law is sure to give the mass-shooters pause, huh? If only it would have been in effect prior to the San Bernadino shooting...

California: Not making sense, while making no sense.

Hey Abdullah, we can't kill but 10 people in out terrorist raid at the Mall tomorrow because California has banned high capacity magazines".

you are funny.
a 14 rd mag is STANDARD on some pistols..illegal.
an 18 rd mag is STANDARD on some cz pistols illegal.

the change is that under the prior law a hi cap owned prior to the law was legal.
now they are not.

Are standard capacity mags ok?

so

so someone in Ca commits a heinous shooting using 6 or 10 round magazines. This is not about magazine capacity. This is an incremental process leading to gun banning or confiscation. Do not be misled. Its about eliminating firearms ownership by changing views on guns among the general populace and passing laws that totally gut the second amendment. If criminal Clinton gets elected and the Dems get ahold of both legislative branches, watch out!!

the point was that "high capacity" is a BS term.

Sorry while i agree the process and the laws suck,
high capacity is defined by the law and sometimes by the press,
esp here in ca.
No one talks STANDARD capacity.

And we should endeavor to change the dialog so that people are using words correctly.

We should not roll over and accept bogus terms. We should use words/terms correctly.

right another pie in the sky dreamer...words will fix the world.
the democrats own the media...how are you going to fix that.
the us mil never used the words "assault rifle"...the press did.
( yes in 43 the germans has an assault rifle, but no one since then..other than the press)

done

Back to the OP. How are these new laws going to affect the shooting sports in California that typically use a lot of ammunition, (components), throughout the year?
