"California Dreamin'....

Al Nyhus

"It'll never work!"
...on such a Winters day." That song by The Mommas and Pappas was probably appropriate for yesterday. The winds were honking from the North @ 35+ and temps were in the teens, so it was a good day to make cores. Have been juggling a few different lubes to get a cleaner release from the ejector/squirt die with less mess and lower odor.

A couple few thousand (South Dakota speak) ready to go. On the left are the thousands of 'squirts' of lead bled off during the core forming process. With the release of Mr. Boyer's book and his advice on using core squirts for checking bolt nose to barrel clearance, maybe there's a big secondary market for these squirts? ;) :D

Stay warm. -Al

I live in northern California and the weather here today is miserable. If it hits 70 degrees we will be lucky as its been running 65 all week long.
Nothing we can do will bring the weather temps up so we go steelhead fishing or crabbing for dungeness crabs.
Shooting right now requires us to wear a jacket in the mornings so we have the range all to ourselves.

yesterday..or was it last year.....125mph winds in the mountains... hi winds in town.....i watched football most of the day, and cranked out some 38 spcl loads and a long 40 load for my 10mm...

Ohh shut up Lynn, it probably won't even hit 50 here today and there's a gusty breeze. Stupid moles are popping up all over the yard, gotta' go deal with THAT later, spray home ade pepper spray down their liddle faces.

At least the grass finally slowed down.

But if I shoot today I've gotta' do it outside and I'll have to wear a jacket..... I think I'll just work inside today....

winter SUCKS!!

LOL

Gents,
It could be worse-
Ambient temperature is-42F in Fairbanks,AK. today.
Not a cloud in the sky!!!!
Northern Lights were awesome last night!!!

Needs to be -60F to -70F for 4-6 weeks like the good 'ole days to push some of the schmucks back to the lower 48 states!!

Eddie, how 'bout I send 'em to 'ya as a late Christmas present....maybe help 'ya corner the market? Actually, all my squirts go to a pal of mine who is a cast bullet BR guy.

Stay warm and say "Hi" to record holding Sara. :) -Al

Al, Do you clean and organize before every picture? How do you get any work done? Or is this the studio picture and you really work in the basement! ;)

I live in Southern California the temperature is great, but the winds from the anti gun nuts blows hard and cold. Enjoy what you have warm weather isn't everything.

it was 78 at the range yesterday. had to put the air conditioner on in the car for the ride home. life is really tough some times.

Al. This old guy told me to try Castor oil. 5 drops in a pickle jar 10 hand fulls of 22 cores. Put the jar in a towel and roll for a couple of min. Think I dropped to 4 drops. Worked pretty good.
Got it from the same place as the lanolin. I switched to Lanolin and Castor oil for the rest. Worked real good, when the humidity drops in the house. tumble jackets for 4-5 min.

hey Big Al.
That was the Mamas and Papas....great music, John Phillips was a gifted song writer, and his wife not too shabby to look at. Too bad they couldn't stay out of the drug scene. Ol Cass could sure belt them out. Denny Dougherty was from Halifax NS, not too far down the Eastern road from me. Put me on the list if you decide to sell a few! It's finally turned cold here too. 3F yesterday, 15 today. Stay warm. --Greg

The squirts from my die, a detsch with 3 small holes, work very well for guys that fly fish. They wrap them around the leader
adjusting weight by the length.
