Just Call Cabela's About An Order Of Lapua Brass That I Received From Them. It Was 6.5 X 47 And It Looked Perfect Till I Start Getting It Expanded For 30 X 47. 35 Out Of The 100 Rounds Would Not Go In Any Of My Shell Holders. I Took Dial Calipers And Found That The Cutting Tool Needed To Go In .o18" To .020" Deeper. I Called Cabela's Customer Service And Told Them The Problem. After A Few Minutes She Said They Were Sending Out Another 100 Rounds And Don't Send The One's I Had Back. Now That Is Customer Service. I Know They Will Get As Much Of My Business As I Can Send Them. This Is The 2nd Time In Six Years That I Had A Problem That They Handled To My Complete Satisfaction.

Did you try...

a different brand of shellholder? I sometimes run into Laupa brass that won't work with a Lyman but will with an RCBS or Redding. Just a thought.

redding, rcbs

Tried Rcbs, Redding And Lyman. None Worked. That Is Why I Was Disappointed Because My Last 200 Lapua Were All Dented But These Looked Perfect.

I also tried...

I also tried the 6.5X47 Lapua brass for my 30HBR. I purchased mine from Sinclair's. Unfortunately it turned out to be to tight in my chamber at the web, by several thousands. Also, the extra expansion step was a pain. Sooo...it's back to the Remington Savage 300 brass that I just run through my custom Redding "S" type die, turn the necks, and fire form.

To make it work with a Small Base die. I had a similar situation happen and after a lot of thinking and asking I bought a 308 small base die and my cases now chamber ok. The small base die is .002 smaller than a standard die.

Cabelos service is great

A few years ago, just prior to an Elk hunt in Colorado, I got the notion that I needed (ok wanted) a new pair of camo insulated pants.

I grabbed my Cabelos catalogue and found the ones I just had to have. When I called to order them I asked if they could be shipped 2nd day as I was leaving in 3 days for the hunt.

The girl explained that it would take 2 days to get them hemmed to length and asked if there was an address where I was hunting at that she could ship them to.

I said that they could be shipped to my buddies in Pagosa Springs.

She said they would rush them through to make sure they get there on time.

I thanked her for the service above and beyond.

She replied "Mr. Tidwell, we understand, it is hunting season"

When I got to Colorado, there was a Cabelos box sitting on my bed......:D:D

Needless to say, Cabelos is one of the first places I look for hunting gear. Wish they had a better selection of reloading gear.

Thats good to hear.

I went to Cabelas in St. Louis and thought it would be my last time dealing with them. I brought a friend that was considering getting into the shooting sports and we were planning to look at scopes. After waiting for 30 minutes for the employees to quit talking about a party someone had the night before we finally got some kid with 3 ear rings and his pants hanging so low you could clearly see his underwear to get a scope out of the case for us.

Then he basicly told us we were stupid for even looking at any scope besides the one he had on his gun that he shoots 5 shots into a dime at 1000 yards with (some scope with a mil-dot). We tried to ignore it but then he actually got personal with my friend so we left before dragging him across the counter.

Its actually a shame that they have people like that there because they are located about 3 miles from where I work.

Im glad to hear its not like that company wide.

Nope...

Nope...I too have a 308 small base die. Didn't work (mine were .004 to big); that web is very thick and it made no difference when I ran some of them through it. The only solution I could think of was to chuck them up in a drill and turn them down at the web a few thousands with emery cloth. But...why bother when the 300 Savage brass works fine with less trouble. I just wanted to experiment a little bit. I only made up about 15 cases and sold the other 85 cases to a friend who loves them. I read somewhere (it might have been here) that the more recent 30X47 reamers are made for the Lapua brass, so there would be no problem. The reamer that made my chamber dates prior to 1997.

Shoot small and don't miss your relay,
