How many competitors?, when only showing those at the top it appears that it is an extremly small group and maybe not worth making the trip to compete.

This is the California State Championship, so I think it would be worth the trip to compete. The winner drove over 700 miles to be there(Congrats, Don!). Louis.J, how many competitors would you require to entice you to go to a match?

Francis my interest is not in Jacketed Benchrest but in single shot Schuetzen BR and it would only take one other than myself for a local match. It would take quite a bit more if I were to travel a long distance. When only the top scores are shown with no mention of the total amount of shooters it appears the sport is dying to a newbie who might show an interest about getting into the sport from an outsiders perspective such a mine.

JLouis

JLouis, I do not believe jacketed Benchrest is dying, 138 shooters at this year's Cactus, about 220 at the SuperShoot, and 200+ expected at this year's NBRSA Nationals in Phoenix. Proximity to the range has a lot to do with attendance at any event other than a national, and Sacramento, in the north, has fewer shooters than So. Cal. Many are reluctant to travel great distances due to time restraints and expense(Benchrest Is Expensive even w/o travel!). The Benchrest shooters that I know are passionate & enthusiastic about their sport and would welcome & assist any newcomers to a match.

I personally attend this match Along with other shooters that come from as far as Nevada and Washington. Dennis Thornsberry also attends this match he thinks it's worth making the trip and so do the rest of the shooters that attend this match, I didn't know that you have to fill a certain quota of shooters in order to attend a match
