I know a while back, there was somewhere that had this steel putty for around $30.00 and free shipping for 1lb. anyone know of a good place to order from now? Thanks! :)

Why not just use J-B Weld. You can find it about anywhere. I get the large tubes at a local auto parts store. Works fine. About half the price too.

Just as a suggestion try Devcon HVAC instead. It's basicly the same stuff except the filler material is aluminum not steel. The steel material can potentially rust. It was a tip that was passed on to me by someone I consider to be a master stock maker and now I can pass it on to you. Hope this helps.

Interesting to find this post. I've been looking for a good price on Devcon 10110 and waiting until I needed some other tooling so I could combine shipping. Now I need to do a a repair on an AR15 lower so I need some Aluminum Putty, 10610. So I pulled the spec sheets and they are very close but the Al doesn't rust. strength and shrinkage aren't significantly differnt. I like the darker color of the steel but oh well. The Aluminum is lighter. Aluminum is more expensive. but I'm going to order some and give it a try.
