bencfh rest rifles from late 60s to early 70s

given the actions used back then what would be the dimentions of the barrels that were used be?i see that there were 600 action that were sleved and 700 actions also.of interest is the light varmint and sporter class rifles.thank you for your imput on this...

I have a Benchmaster receiver that is 2" in diameter and is threaded on the OD of the tenon end at 1 3/4" for an additional 6-8" in bedding length with an additional sleeve. The actual barrel tenon wasn't large at approx. 1".

I didn't look at his bolt

And showing you how "and he's never galled the lugs!!" even after years of neck-size only shooting.

and wonder if it would matter to him. That rifle was and is competitive. Lee is Old School.

Several, such as Harts, were using wood stocks that often required a fast taper, i.e. “western” tapered bbl to make 10 1/2 lbs.

I still have a sleeved xp put to gather by PJ and Clyde Hart. It’s in one of the old original Brown synthetic stocks. The sleeve continues about 3”-3.5” past the front of the receiver, but only the bottom half. I believe this was the transition from wood hence
the extra bedding surface. I’m sure there are more around I just haven’t seen any. It also requires fast “western” taper to make 10.5 lbs. Forgot to mention that it’s a glue job.

I knew Clyde and Mickey. He shot a .22swm. Just saying. My first gun was a 22ppc smithed by a Butler.
